GIlera Stalker driving problems!

I am posting this for my mate who has got a gilera Stalker.
when the bike gets up to full throttle, the back wheel feels like it is wobbling or unbalanced. I doubt the wheel is unbalanced because its a brand new scooter.
Does anybody have any ideas?

ALSO!! the scooter has a catlaist converter exhaust (the chunky straight through style) and just after the manifold there is a hose coming off the exhaust up to what looks like an airbox. does this need to be there, and can it be slowing the bike down???

aa, come on people.. somebody must know what the problem is with this bike!!!

also another question...
this bike has a catalyst exhaust, and it has a blank hose (restriction pipe on exhaust) but it also has another hose coming off the exhaust opposite the blank hose. this other hose leads up through what looks like an airfilter and then back into the engine cover via a tube...

dose anybody know what the hell this is ???

Would you happen to have a diagram or picture of it, so i can see what it is? The problems with the stalker sound a bit wierd tho, but if the problem can be described in detail, it may be of some help to me. Thanx

which problem are you talking about
the exhaust restriction or the wobbeling back wheel?

well i havnt had a good look at the scoota cos its my mates. but i do kno that behind the hub cap on the wheel, there is like an R clip not a wheel nut.

anybody have a gillera scooter with a cat exhaust. is it a better idea to get an aftermarket pipe, or to get the cat exhaust fully derestricted? (money wise)

That pipe coming of the exhaust to a small black box is the catalyst converter.

cheers mate. hes had his scooter derestricted, but they left the catalyst on the exhaust.
his bike has all the acceleration (VERY fast, pulls away faster than my 70cc speedfight) but at about 10mph, it goes flat and takes ages to build up, it gets about 47 on flat (thats pretty bad) what sort or pipe shud he go for. would a cheaper technigas do the same job as somthing like a leovinci ZX or a gianilli sprint.

i have a gilera ice same engine and the black pipe is going to the air box and i dont know what it does to speed when taken out but is really load when taken out i have bout a zx pipe of ebay for £20 the bike does 42mph i will let use know what it does when i get my pipe tommorow Very Happy

when fitting a sports pipe to the bike remove the old cat exhaust and block up the existing small black pipe you mentioned that goes to the black box, that will be fine. you could screw a bolt into the pipe to block it or put something else in there to block it (make sure it wont come out obviously Smile

), remove the variator "washer", take out the brass plate with holes in it (should be at the mouth of the carburetor) and up-jet your carb, put some performance rollers in the variator between 5g to 8g (malossi one are good) its up to you to decide what weight rollers to use that suit you and the bike best... heavier rollers equal poor acceleration, but good top-speed -- lighter rollers equal fast acceleration poor top-speed be carefull not to go too light as your engine will over rev causing your clutch to overheat and fail and your engines reliability to decrease very fast. a malossi kevlar drive belt is worth getting as this is stronger that the standard and as your be "tuning" your bike you'll need a strong reliable drive belt to get the power to the rear wheel.

some other things you could do are fit:

. 70cc cylinder kit

. carbon reed petals -- bigger reed block

. malossi delta clutch and malossi springs

. variator kit

. lighter fly wheel

. race clutch bell

. malossi torque driver spring

. bigger carburetor (19mm-21mm 50cc -- 25mm-28mm 70cc)

. race inlet manifold

. malossi full circle race crank shaft

. malossi high compression head
.........ETC

IF YOU GOING TO TUNE AND INCREASE YOUR SCOOTERS SPEED, ITS A GOOD IDEA TOO UP RATE YOUR BRAKING SYSTEM.
REMEMBER.... THE FASTER YOU RIDE THE HARDER YOU BRAKE!!

YOUR POST about the back wheel only has an r clip my gilera has 2 washers a wheel nut a wheel cap which goes over the nut stopping it to move and an r clip through that so if thats all he has on there sounds abit funny to me
