Style change

I’ve been thinking about a style change from Super bike to super moto or enduro but unsure on a few things.
I must admit I’m out of touch with the models of super moto etc, I know more about the sports now.

So, I like the look of this CCM 604.

I don’t know the first thing about CCM, so I was wondering if I should be wary of anything.
The things that appeal to me about this type of bike is the cost to buy, to insure, and the maintenance can be done a lot easier than my ZX7.
Are they reliable?
I would have thought a big 600 single would be pretty tough but I might be very wrong.
The other thing is, and I know this might seem silly from an experienced biker but IMO it looks like in the wet these things would kill you.

The CCM is a nice introduction to supermoto. They are generally a bit heavier and softer than the hard edged high end ktm/husqy/husaberg bikes. The motor should be ok, oil changes need to be kept up on, but it should be easier to live with than a nuts 450 with the hell screwed out of it.

In iffy conditions (apart from the apart from the total lack of weather protection) a supermoto is the bike to be on. They are rockets on dodgy surfaces, with sportsbike rubber but long and soft suspension. Plus if you do drop it, there is no where near as much to damage as a sportsbike.

If I were you, i'd check out supermoto racing on google video or youtube, watch the sorts of speeds they run in wet weather and on the dirt sections.

afaik, the newer CCMs use Suzuki engines, so shouldn't have too much of a problem with engine reliability.

Earlier ones used Rotax irrc.

The components are usually reasonably specced, and they seem to be reasonable bikes.

Oh dear, confusion again....

This isn't going to be easy is it.

Mind you, a lot of people said the ZX7 will blow up, it's shown me a lot more than i was expecting.
So the maintanance on a supermoto is regular, the oil change can't be hard. Thinking

Depends if you get a shiny one with a half decent engine, or a basic road/enduro style bike.

Hmmm, that particular bike looks to be in good nick, however as stated before, it is the Rotax motor.

Go for it if you want, but you would really be wanting to find a later one with the Suzuki motor for longevity. Plus starting at 2,500 Shocked

This is the pickle....my Kwak has lost a fair chunk since i bought it, and it doesnt get better. For some reason they loose their value fast....

If i got this as a cheaper option to run (maybe not going for the Rotax motor) then when i come to sell it i'd want something decent after that. Confused

If you bid on that bike you will be an advice ignoring tosser. A 2002 CCM identical to that but with a suzuki engine can be had for less money, and will be a better bike.

Also, unless you're planning to do some off roading youre better of buying teh R30 model.

Basically the same bike but with better styling and a shorter swing arm which gives better handling.

I paid around £400 less than i should have for the ninja.
They don't hold their value it seems, i doubt you can predict such things.

Personally, I wouldn't have paid over, say, £1700 for a good ZX7r*.
I seem to remember that you paid a hell of a lot more than that.

The point is that as you could get a 'better' bike for less money, there was never going to be a big market for them, however new or shiny they are.

(Not that I'd pay that - I would be expecting one to be near the £1k mark to make me 'interested' over the altneratives.)
