Ok,

Just bought my GPR and i know very little about 2-stroke engines or 50cc bikes.

I rode to work this morn at 9am and parked bike outside and then it rained.

2pm i drove home and it has stayed there until 10pm tonight when i took for a drive around the city. I got back from my drive and i could smell a little burning and there was a slight bit of smoke coming from the exhaust (very slight) so i gave it a little more and there was a bit more, bearing in mind that it is a cold evening.
btw. im using fully synthetic oil.

Is this normal for a 2 stroke?

the smell of 2 stroke is wonderfull and you will get the smell all the time, smoke is usual on a 2 stroke even when bike at full working temp you will get a little bit of smoke when you rev it, while its warming up you will get a fair amount of smoke, but its nothing 2 worry about. If its cold you will get oil condensing inside the exhaust which will be slowly burnt off. Enjoy the 2 stroke world, its great!

lol u should had seen my nsr when u 1st start it up. u r sitting in a cloud of smoke.
50cc dont burn a lot of oil like the 125s but thay still do smoke a bit and yes it smells bad when u 1st get a 2t. i remember my ice 50cc scooter 2t. it smelt well bad i think it was just the exhaust because it was new. make sure u r useing fully sinth oil. its recomended for a geared bike as the rev quite high.

It's not actually smoke Wink Well some is, as a 2-stroke will naturally kick out some oil in the exhaust gases, but all bikes both 2 and 4 stroke kick out large amounts of water vapour until they are warmed up. So most of that smoke is nothing more than steam.

At this time of year the water (a natural byproduct of combustion) condenses as soon as it leaves the engine and touches the cold exhaust system. This produces large amounts of white vapour. Once the engine/exhaust system has warmed up the water stays as a hot gas (clear).

Cars will also be producing white vapour on cold winter mornings - a sure sign winters arrived!

well i bought it with 28 km on the clock from a dealer and already had oil in it but not sure what it was but now im using fully synthetic comma 2 stroke oil so i guess the old oil could still be burning through.

Ok im guessing that its going to be the same as the 125, so you need to unbolt the petrol tank.
theres one bolt near the steering yokes and two near you crotch type area after you removed the seat. pull the tank back and be careful of the hose that takes petrol to the engine (i havnt undone that yet but im guessing you gonna get soaked in petrol Smile )
you should see a big plastic reservoir thing (bit like you 2t oil tank) under there somehere and thats where you put ya water.
