Going by the Race Rep 125's, this by far to me has more appeal and looks better. What do you guys think? If you were 17 - would you have one?

Have to agree that it does kinda look the same as the old one. But doesn't it look pretty in black Razz

If I was 17 I don't know if I'd want to spend £3k on a bike though, however nice and fast it went.

I used to ride with a lad who bought a brand new mito on finance at 17.

He was sooooo slow. Then he bought a second hand NC30 and fecking flew.

He would have been in a much better financial situation if he bought a CG. Ok, no pose factor, but it's not like you can pose on an angry bee is it..

Why bother with that when you could get an RS 125

Personally I think the Mito is a far better looking bike, and performance wise there is basically nothing in it.

And I own an RS125.

All the best

Are you basing that on a 2006 rs 125?

Oh, and I would a gree there isnt much between them in speed. I just prefer the modern sports bike look the new rs has, the skinny tail and the pointy front.

To me the mito looks like an minature old ducati which I dont really like the look off, but we all like differnt things Smile

I would rather save the 3k and get a bigger bike once passing a test.
Most of the 125 go for less then half there price after a few months.
Get a claped out banger like I did for 600 Razz

Not exclusively. Prefer the original shape RS125, then it got worse until they brought out the later shape ones in about 1998 which look awful. Latest ones are a lot better but still think the Mito is better looking. Personally think the Mito is one of the best looking bikes made. Far better than the 916 its styling is loosely based on.

As to pointly tails. Not keen. Overdone now. Too many point up at the back which just makes them look like they have been rear ended and the subframe bent.

All the best

I paid £1300 for my rs 125, and I will probably get all my money back, if not more.

I learned my lesson the hard way.. I spent £2,500 on a moped... yes £2,500 on a 50cc moped! It had gears, and was in the shape of a superbike.

Yes it turned heads, yes it was as fast as the rs 50. But now its broken ( and I cant work out whats wrong with it and nore can 3 bike garages ) so I got £2,500 worth of shit sitting in my shed waiting to be dumped and its only been about 1.2 years since I bought it..

Someone agrees that the mito is a better looker than the 916!? finally! Laughing

I think the best looking RS is the pre '98 extrema. The new one isn't bad, and the one before it only looked nice as a pogialli rep.

Didn't they both come from the head of Tamburini?
The 916, the Mito and the MV F4 - the man deserves a medal!!

I'll go and take my anorak off now.

I had a mito for 2 years it was an amazing bike, never let me down, there great if you look after them, 100mph feels great on one of those things because you have to work for it.
I sold mine 3 months ago when I passed my DAS, I really miss it.
Would have kept it if i could afford to have two bikes on the road. Crying or Very sad

Try getting anything like the same performance from a 4 stroke 125, and not only with the bang happen even sooner the bill will be even higher.

And the Ducati Paso. And the Cagiva Freccia.

All the best

Couple of months? 8,000 miles for a ring change on cagivas, 16000 miles for a piston change, and 32,000 for a full strip and rebuild. So it's a ring change every year, a piston change every other, and a full rebuild every fourth.

Ring change is pointless in my book, You got the barrel off, so you may as well change the piston, but thats just me Smile

And rs125 need newrings/piston+rings every 8,000km, but on the Aprillia forum theres been storys of up to 40,000km on original rings.

I wouldn't dis the bike unless you've tried it mate. On mine although theres issues with it starting, once its running its a pretty cool thing to ride. Between that and my 600 I'd probably say the RS brings more of a grin to my face when I'm riding it. When you get above so many revs the powervalve kicks in and its a real fucking rush. Ok its not amazing in terms of top end speed (100 mph is about top I've heard) but its still an amazing handling bike as well.
They also only get a bad reputation for reliability because 17 year old chavs can't be bothered to do basic maintenance on the things.

Yea but if you buy it knowing that its quite likely that you will have to pay £££ on a rebuild then its not that bad. I loved mine when i had it but should never be brought as a tool and not a toy, as just too much hassel to warm up and 2t oil it needs is like the price of vodka!!

But its so much fun and you arnt breaking the speed limits all that much.
