whats the difference between normal sockets and impact drivers/wrenches? ,
I hear that impact wrenches are better for buggered bolts and my NTV is covered with them. but don't know why and or how they work.
any thoughts?

an Impact driver is a special tool that uses the sudden shock of a hammer blow to twist the socket, and hopefully the seized nut.
Because of the nature of some air-tools, it's not uncommon to find impact sockets used there too.
Impact sockets tend to be made of a harder material than regular sockets, but harder doesn't always mean stronger. They can transmit shock loads more effectively than a chrome-vanadium tool, but if you were to stick a breaker bar, and swing on it to tighten something, you could crack it..

Impact tools:
'Stronger' = Less Brittle and Heavier/Thicker most commonly only six side insted of twelve so the loads are spread over more of the tool.
