I've had a few trouser filling moments on the bike but tonight I was so close to having my first off, so very f**king close Shocked Shocked
I was pulling away from the kerb tonight and pulled away as usual and suddenly the rear wheel lost traction, the revs went sky high which made the rear wheel spin even faster, now i was leaning over a bit so the rear end swung right out to my left, as soon as it happened i thought "f**k it i'm coming off here" but somehow i recovered it only for it to step out to the right then it snapped upright and almost highsiding me off. i dunno what the hell caused it because i went back to see if their was something on the road but all i could see was the black line from the rear wheel, i'm guessing it was just cold tyres.
I think the bike will be going into hibernation this weekend

ps. Pilot Power 2CT are shite in the winter Laughing

I would think it was probably cold tires I did a very similar thing to you last year. I came out of my brothers driveway far too quick and lost traction but ended up lowsiding on the main road.

The weather was very much like we are having at the moment the roads and tires are cold. So when moving off just take it easy for the first couple of miles.

Glad you didn't come off and hurt yourself. Thumbs Up

Coming out the airport car pack Thursday night after work, accelerate just to wheelspin out the corner and up the road.

Also found out when coming back from a 90 minute or so ride round some twistys that my tyres didnt really ever warm up, wondered why they felt a bit vauge Shocked

Dunlops 218's, cant get worse for your money. (Though they were free)

Would've suggested a bit of ice but Glasgow wasn't so cold last night was it?
Anyway you must've just put the power on too quick.
Riding on slimey Winter roads is all about smooth & gentle..
Is your tyre getting towards the end of it's life anyway?

Hi,

I ride a Yamaha Fazer FZ6 and run on Pirelli Diabllo Rubber. I used to ride bikes 16 years ago and just come back to riding this July.

Had a good bike ride out from Worcester to Hereford, and back on the Bromyard road. Was enjoying the twisties (Not going mad as it was around 11am yesterday morning and bits of road had not dried out yet) and took one sharp corner the the back just let go and 'kicked out' but then regained grip.

Very unnerving as this has not happened to me before. Probally cold road etc but can this happen often when riding. I really thought I could be heading for a highside!!!

Cheers

Jlo

Smooth is the winter word people. No grabs of the throttle. We rely on both of those wheels gripping.

The roads are fucking crap at the moment. We are getting the released oil/petrol plus the added bonus of frost.

Please be careful.
