I am not sure if I want to learn to ride or not… pros at the moment outrun the cons by miles but the cons are pretty big!

I’ve been on the back of bikes and been round them, but my dear parents are not exactly the biggest fans of bikes in any form! So… I drive but I’ve recently found that sitting in traffic jams on the way to work that I have to watch bikes going past every few minuets; they also get free parking- I am paying £3.10 for my car!!

Major pro is that I loved being on the back of a bike…and have recently found myself in the area of bike mags in Smith’s. Shall I take the chance and go for it… I am undecided... i mean i could give it a go, maybe!?

A CBT is around 90 quid.... It gives you a couple of years to see if really enjoy riding (which i would bet money money on as being so) and then you can either go back to a car (with all the high insurance) or do your bike test and see how you move on from there! Laughing

I'm been biking two years in December and bout to take my test and move on to bigger bikes and no L's

buy a CG125 after doing your CBT and laugh at the amount of petrol you'll use. 100 MPG easily and no parking fees for me is the greatest. But what's the best has to be no hassle in finding a space and for a cg next to no repair bills providing you don't try to ride it like as RS125.

bikes are only as dangerous as you make them. exactly the same could be said for driving.

ride the bike properly, sensibly and carefully and you will have no problems.

yeah, get a ybr tho - they look a bit better than the cg and still have the same fuel consumption Wink

i passed my cbt in sep, i have never been on the road before on a bike Shocked

but wow i loved it, Razz

the best thing you could do is take your cbt, and just that day is well worth it Wink

that will be enough to make your mind up.

yeah and try to take your cbt on a geared 125 - rather than a 50cc moped, trust me mopeds and 125 bikes are a whole different ball game, so you may as well ride the one you want.

It's perfectly possible to ride safely, the con is that if you know how to, for some there's still the temptation not to.

Learning to ride definitely is worth while - then you've got the option of carrying on or not.

Proviso. It IS dangerous. Some of us die for our hobby. You will get loads of help here. If you want a life with limited risk I suppose no. Knock it on the head.

But we are all going to die at some stage. It would be a shame not to have some fun.

yeah, most 4 stroke 125's get really good fuel economy.

just pick a model that you like, that will suite you and is cheap to insure.

I was unsure what to do as well to be honest. The thought of riding a bike seemed great, altho the thought of crashing was there.
After mum had seen her best mate get killed on a bike put me off a bit.
I did my CBT.. cost 90 I think, or there abouts. Had a 100cc scooter to ride on.
Its great, cant explain the feeling. Now im on a slight bigger bike I travel a bit more.
Seriously, go do it. 90 CBT will last you two years. Ive had mine 3 months and looking to do my test allready!
