I'm really intrigued, why do keep running out of fuel in your bike? Is it either A: tricky to get fuel where you are, B: you are suffering from memory loss, C: you are one of those people who insist on running their tank down to the bare minimum before even thinking about topping it up? ____________________ Yamaha YZF-R6 |

If switching to reserve isn't enough notice that you need to visit a petrol station, I wouldn't have thought an extra 30cl is going to make a difference to how often you run out of petrol. |

On the DR with the 9 litre tank reserve was 1.8 litres. You had literally 10-15 miles of fuel to get to a pump. Damn thing only did about 80 to a tank (including reserve) anyway ____________________ Bikes: too many, too much for one man to maintain anyway. |

Don't keep petrol for too long. The mix is changed a few times a year, and it "goes off". It'll be as useful as skunk piss - it'll smell bad, and it won't be good in your tank.
Why not just keep a dipstick under your seat? Pop it in your tank, and record the level...?
Work out your average economy, too. Have a week of absolutely thrashing and abusing the bike everywhere so you know the fuel will be at maximum consumption. At the start of the week, brim your tank. Right up. Reset your trip meter, then after a few days, go back to the station, brim it again, and record the ammount by which you've filled up. Work out your economy using the trip meter and fuel pump reading, and then work out your minimum range. Simple.
