the bore and stroke from the 400 is
64.0 x 62.0 mm (2.5 x 2.4 inches)
and the 600 is
75.0 x 66.0
so no not the same, you might be able to shave a mm or 2 from both sides of the head, ect ect to try and increase your compression slightly
the sv650 has a closer stroke lenth of
81.0 x 62.6 mm (3.2 x 2.5 inches)
dunno how much luck you would have trying to bolt the head of the sv on your you block.
you would probly find a engine transplant would be easier and probly a whole heap cheaper ____________________ the humans are dead

Right do you mean the VLX/VT600 Shadow steed thing?
If so. The BROS engine is NOT the same. In many many ways it is different including making about double the power of the steed/shadow and having a 5 speed box over the steed/shadow 4 speed.
If you are trying to put a BROS engine into the custom frame you are going to run into a few problem I believe but I'm about to go to bed so will continue this later.
Heres a place you can buy a brand new complete engine that should fit quite nicely clicky.
Sadly I know these bikes to well. |

Aah gotcha.
I thought you were being obtuse.
Hassle wise shouldn't be too much of a problem (well not for me). I will be taking my mechanic to take a look at the 650 with the VRX side by side, manuals printed out and his head working hopefully he will either say yes or no rather than a maybe.
He has made steed 400 years ago with an early Bros 400 engine which he claims was no hassle.
The main concern that he has from looking at the photos is that the exhaust outlet on the front cylinder may be in line with my frame. If I am lucky it is going to come out in the middle of the radiator and I will just have to move the radiator instead or split it in to two separate coolers.
A 600 engine out here is extortionate a 600 steed is too much as well.
If it all goes to shite I have a backup plan.
A '76 GL 1000 just waiting to be bought. ____________________ Keep your nuts safe and clean!! |
