does anyone declare (if have any) convictions for driving offences when applying for motorcycle insurance?
i have a CD10 (undue care and attention + 3 pts) and im thinking of not declaring it as my insurance premium went up by £200.
should i declare the offence? my uncle has a few convictions and he has never declared them and hasnt been found out, im just wondering if anyone does acctually declare offences and how would i be found out if i didnt declare the offence. cheers for your info/replys ____________________ Dont do a wheelie in front of a traffic copper... it gets you 3pts and £220 fine. |

Your choice, but bear in mind that you're technically uninsured, as your insurance is null and void if you haven't declared everything to the company.
If you get found out, you're then possibly looking at another conviction for no insurance (among other things). ____________________ Dead nobodies in company cars... |

3 POINTS dont tend to make too much differecnce. I declaired my points.
But I never declair criminal convictions as they can then refuse insurance and I dont think they are allowed access to the CRB.

Convictions such as assault and criminal damage are a different kettle of fish altogether, for one thing they are not on your driving licence, that your insurance company can request to see: CD10 would be. They can ask you if you have any criminal convictions, but depending on the sentence you received and length of time passed, you may not have to declare them Rehabilitation of Offenders Act
As has been mentioned, if you do not declare them then come a cropper, you will be in a boat without a paddle.

Insurance works on the principle of "utmost good faith".
If you provide information in bad faith - i.e. lie - then the insurance company is quite within its rights to declare your insurance null and void.
The reason they ask about other, non-traffic offences is to see if you've ever been prosecuted for fraud, dishonesty or other similar offences which may increase your risk to the insurance company.
An example of fraud might be claiming that something's been stolen when it hasn't - which I understand is a common problem in the mobile phone insurance industry.
Lies don't have legs, and you'll trip up sooner or later. Telling the truth is much easier, and less likely to land you in serious hot water.

Why would a crim conviction stop you from getting insurance Ive never understood!
If you were a major crim anyway you wouldnt even bother getting insurance in the 1st place!
I was done for something I never even really commited so why should I be refused insurance for one minor issue 6-7 years ago!
Come on Siggi Views? What do you tell your insurance?
I pay £400 fully comp on the R1 thats protected with 1 non fault claim and a clean licence. ____________________ Carbon closet tart! https://www.bikepics.com/members/r6stuk/02r6/
