stupid question.
I thought my reserve wasnt working as i run outta petrol a little while ago.Decided yesterday to pull tank off and remove reserve pipe, thinking it may have fell off in the tank. When i took it off everything was looking ok.
my question is this.
https://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y238/dodgydav32000/Image2225x225.jpg
where it says pointer in above pic, this is where i thought you had to point it.
I mean if that bit was down then it would be petrol on.Pointing that bit up would be reserve. When ur looking at the bike that end looks like the pointer.but now im not sure.is it the longer end of the tap i should be using to point?
if im using the wrong end then i probably ran out of petrol cos i have been running it on reserve all the time.it sorta gives it away that the off position meant the longer pointer was pointing towards the off.but being a chinese bike i wasnt sure if the pointers on back to front/wrong way round.so i just used the end which looked like it come to a point.
could someone confirm this for me please...

dave

It should only rotate around 180 degrees of the circle, and the side that passes off is the pointer. This is how mine works anyway.

If the bike is gy125..

12 is reserve

3-9 is off

6 is on

In your picture the fuel is turned off. It needs to point to 12 for reserve and of course normal would be pointed down at 6. If you turn it clockwise which ever end stops at the bottom is the end that needs to point (12) to reserve.
