I HATE scooters... they aren't real motorbikes (sorry if I offend anyone here). I'd have an automatic hatchback, because thats just a form of transport, but biking is all about the challenge and experience, for me at least. Its like playing football with the ball glued to your feet. Smile

I will Smile One question: do I really need to read the highway code? BSM have told me that I should, but I didn't think it was a test of sorts, rather a training day. Is there anything I should know?

Someone mention the shinyness!!! It took me the best part of a day to get it that shiny! lol Wink

I thought it was twisted quite high. The clutch is quite far down on the other side. I thought it might be some safety thing or something.

Yes really! You've a lot to learn as well as getting to grips with two-wheels.

A healthy dose of caution is also a good thing Wink

Enjoy! Mr. Green

£1000. I am sure it can't be that hard right? I'm really safety concious, so for the first couple of weeks I will just be going slow, getting used to it on small, unused roads probably. Smile but thanks for the heads up.

You must be tiny to make that 50 look normal sized.

Everybody plans to take it easy etc but its far too easy to open the throttle and just paste it as fast as bike will go

Be safe

No its not hard, but when you get into situations where you have no experience of how to deal with them (harsh braking, changing direction quickly) its easy to crash.

I would seriously think about not opening it up for a few weeks to get used to it, i know its only a 50 so really not much to open up at all but might be the different or having nice or scratched panels Thumbs Up

They have 2 wheels and an engine, last time I checked that was a motorcycle.

The fact they are cheaper and not /that/ much slower than an expensive 50cc motorbike i'd say for common sense value they are a much more worthy introduction to motorcycling, but hey each to their own, if they have that much cash to splash around on 50cc's then so be it.

Anyway nice bike, take it steady in December.

IMO Rs50s are worth every penny, ok they may be a few hundred more than a scooter, but the enjoyment they give is great when your 16 Very Happy Even better is the depreciation isn't bad at all due to them always being in demand!

I am sorry... ok scooters are "real" motorbikes... but I couldn't stand one. Yeye, they are cheap, but I would rather have an RS50. I saved up £1000 myself, in order to squander it on a nice 50. Smile
