Don't often post personal shit on here, but I'm so happy about this I'll shout it from the rooftops. Feel free to leave the thread now if you simply don't care
Few years back I was diagnosed with a degenerative spinal condition, bone is in a bad way as well as a couple of disks going pop. No point operating and the general consensus amongst the bods at the Royal Orthopaedic hospital was not so much if I was going to end up in a chair, but when.
Well, fast forward to now. Spent the last six to twelve months working on an assortment of "alternative" approaches to pain management and core exercises to strengthen the pelvic girdle, lay off the opiates and other pills and just use breath/meditative controls. This had been going well, and a couple of months ago I was sent in for another MRI to see what state the prolapses, spinal canal and bone degradation were in. Go in today to speak to my specialist and get told that apparently the problem is "fixing itself", the disk extrusions are breaking up and the vertebrae themselves appear to be stabilised. All in all, the last six months has shown such a marked improvement that if my next quarterly checkup shows the same trend I'll be officially discharged and well on the way to normal
I'm fucking ecstatic, with any luck I'll be able to get around without the crutches and more importantly be able to move well enough to hold down full time employment again soon. Although I'll admit that I will sort of miss the spacker sticker, it's so nice being able to park nearly anywhere and just put a card in the window ____________________ I'm immortal. Well, so far. |

Fantastic news - good on you! Especially, as Siggi said, you used 'alternative' methods to help yourself! Hope it continues to go so well for you! ____________________

That's some really good news. My mum has diabetes and multiple sclerosis (she's stuck in a wheelchair) and recently she started to lose sight.
She was scared because it could be eitehr the diabetes or the multiple sclerosis that's causing it. Question is, which one? If it's diabetes then she could lose her sight completely, being blind and stuck in a wheelchair is just not veyr nice at all. If it's a MS attack then it will go away ni a week or 2.
She went to the Hospital today and was there for 9 hours. And they're 99% sure it's MS. so that'ssome good news. IT's hard enough for my mum being stuck in a wheelchair (since 7 years ago), nevermind being blind and on a wheelchair.
I'm just relieved to say the least. ____________________ '99 Hornet 600 , VFR 400 NC30 '92 , Kasawamasaki GT 550 , '98 Hornet 600

Dredging this up as I hit a personal milestone today:
Almost a year on, a brief update. Whilst things aren't "normal" as such I tried an experiment today. Been building up slowly but decided to go for it. Cycled and walked approximately 7 miles and can still move at the end of the ride. As to how well I'll function tomorrow remains to be seen, but that's the joy of working from home |
