Safe drivers like to add safety features like this to their cars. Until chavs and ratboys decide that using indicators is cool they will have little impact on road casulalty figures.

all that seems to achieve is drivers will think, I wont need to check my mirrors now, these indicators will warn others of what I'm about to do because they are so bright, they shouldn't be in my blind spot anyway. Infact I think I will start driving round wearing a blindfold..

God help anyone whos around a 4x4/merc driver with those installed..

Thats the main problem i think.....4x4 drivers, and mercs/beemers are the worst for cutting people up anyway so rather than check their mirros 3 times out of 10, they might check their mirros 1 times out of 1 with these Shocked

Put it this way, i thought chavs/boy racers were the worst of the lot but no, i even got one indicate to pull over so i could overtake today, and another flas me out Cool .....still hate the feckers though Razz

Even worse this requires the driver to actually use the signal at all... I was nearly squished by a bus moving into my lane today, I started to overtake and it came straight at me. Driver (I woman I may add) didn't bother with a signal or her mirror it would seem.

Later a car tried to squish me, I was in his blind spot in the lane to his right, the driver at least turned on his indicator and I spotted it so a quick toot of the Horn stopped his progress any further into my lane (he was halfway in after clearly not looking)!

Even if he did look, you were riding in his blindspot. Your fault for riding there, you know he can't see you.

its not his fault he has a bike license not a car licence we dont get shown a car and its blind spots , the driver should check his blind spots just like we do when we shoulder check, simple

Well, the rider was obviously aware he was in a blind spot. Don't cruise there as regardless of fault, you're needlessly making yourself more vulnerable. My riding instructor cruised in the right-hand lane of the motorway in the blind spot of a car driver who was in the middle lane. He woke up in Fazakerly hospital 2 weeks later without a clue how he got there.

In my CBT, the dangers posed by other road users was covered fairly comprehensively, including blind spots of your own vehicle, cars and HGVs. I should hope this is covered at all CBT centres. Car drivers also have a disadvantage in that the B-pillar obscures a fair bit of your vision when doing a shoulder check, and you can't exactly stick your head out of the window. I perform one every time i change lane, whether in the car or on the bike, but it is potentially very very easy to miss a bike sat cruising in your blind spot.

If you put yourself in such a dangerous position, then IMO you accept a certain ammount of responsibility.

I didn't really explain myself properly. I was overtaking him (all be it slowly) in my lane, but I was in his blind spot as this occured. Everyone has to pass through it if they are overtaking a vehical.

I think this is being a little dramatic! Every biker puts themselves in this position every single time they overtake a car. And having driven a car for 6 years now I always check my blind spot when changing lanes, just like you do on a bike.
