Start motor about £60ish

Flush out the coolant, and refill it. Thats assuming that the owner has put any coolant in it Razz

And it doesn't need a technical section, it needs an NSR section!

Is it actually overheating, or are you going purely by the temp guage reading? Could be a dodgy thermostat for false readouts. Otherwise, is the coolant topped up?

What, it worked didn't it.
Ok it smelt for a week, but at least i didnt have to replace parts of the engine.

Possibly one of his gaskets it blowing.

Does it get hot then drop, then hot again?

or does it just slowly rise?

Does it bubble over, like after you turn the engine off can you here the water being cooked in the top end.

Does it over flow out the water top up?

it could be the impela wheel that pnmps the coolent round.

Head gasket cousing it to over heat

Blacked coolant system

too much coolent

too little coolent

dodgey thermostat (least likely)

Hi

Is the radiator hot, or does the engine get hot with the radiator staying cold?

Does the engine use any water?

If the head or base gaskets are gone it is likely to use some water.

If the coolant cannot circulate properly then it is likely the engine will be hot while the radiator stays cold. This can happen is the water pump is not working, the thermostat is sticking or also if the antifreeze mix in the cooling system is too strong (should be about a 50/50 mix of water and antifreeze)

All the best

Keith
