All you need is to wire up the power supply direct to the battery.. Rest are on plug in fittings so you cant go wrong. Laughing

True.

But if you wanted to do a prof job, you would want to rig up a relay and it would stop your battery going flat if left on.

Hi

You could wire them to a circuit that is powered when the ignition is on but that is a fair extra load on a circuit that might not take it.

Personally I would use a relay (basically an electrically operated switch. You feed power to the relay directly from the battery and earth the grips directly to the battery. However you trigger the relay with a feed from a circuit that is only powered when the ignition is on (such as the feed for the brake light switch). This way the extra load on an existing circuit is tiny.

Trouble is you will forget, or some kid will play.

All the best

Hi

Depends on the horn. Some just have a single wire and earth through the body of the horn, and these will only get power when the horn button is pressed. Some (most) have 2 wires, but may not have power all the time, only being fed when the button is pressed, while some will have power all the time and have the switch on the earth side.

Personally I tend to use the power feed for the rear brake light switch.

All the best

Keith

I wired mine directly to the battery, but a mechanic said to wire it into the rear brake light. Hopefully I can convince my dad to do it.

I always wire all my stuff through the horn. Im not sure what bike you have but all my kawasakis have had a black wire that runs to the horn. This wire provides 12v when the igntion is on but once the ignition is off then the wire is 0v. Using this wire has no noticeable effect on the loudness of the horn.

Heres a diagram i used today to wire my oxford heated grips in, i slightly modified it, but u'll get the idea:

www.pcforge.co.uk/bike/improved_wiring.jpg

I used the optimate connector so that when i need to charge my battery all i have to do is unclip my heated grips and clip in my optimate charger.

Cheers,
Shaun.
