Yamaha DT overheating problem

Hi,
My problem is that when I am riding my Yamaha DT 125R, It over heats. When I take a look in the radiator, there is nothing in there because it as overflowed out of the radiator expansion pack on the back of the bike. Please can you tell me why this is happening and how to fix it.

P.S My friend told me it was my water pump propellers. Is this true???

Well if there nothing in there, put some water and some coolant in

I ment i fill it up with water, then go out!

Well if its going out the overflow then its full i would think?

Is it going straight out the overflow when you pour water into the radiator? Or after you have taken it for a ride

Hi

Check for air bubbles in the system. These will stop the water circulating and cause it to overheat. Check the radiator cap is on properly. Also check that the head gasket isn't blown as the engine will then suck in loads of water

if all that fails, check the impella its on the righ hand side on the gear box bit. u remove a strange shaped part of the gearbox (about the size of a large pair (fruit that is).

this is just from memory so it might be on the left hand side
