Hi
Not bad. Cagivas are nicely engineered, and the bodywork is tough. Electrics can be a tad iffy, and if the power valve is misadjusted it will touch the piston and cause loads of damage when hot
Other than that just the usual things to look out for
By the way, I think that colour was on the earliest Mitos. By 1994 they had moved onto the versions with the upside down forks. It isn't uncommon for Italian imports to get the wrong years registration number.
All the best

I'm desperate for a new bike but just can't afford one.
The manual is for a burpday present for the bird who's party I'm going to in Germany.
Hopefully while I'm there either she'll let me have a go on her ZX-6 or her bloke will let me ride his Z1000! ____________________ BCF: Be yourself, just don't be an arse. |

Hi
The Mito does need care and attention. There is a guy on another forum with one at around 15000~20000km on its original rings though. In the workshop manual it is down for cleaning the combustion chamber, piston and rings at 5000km.
I bought a 2nd hand old AF1 which had 25000km on the clock. Suspect it was still on its original piston, and still ran despite having had at least one serious seizure
All the best

I thought it might be that bike you were talking about. Im in Bromsgrove btw. What are you paying for it again? I went to see about the NSR unfaired that he has for £1300. That bike looks mint, and is a 94 i think. he did have an Aprilia RX125, and a Pegaso as well. i dont know what else as the bloke was still in italy according to the Mechanic guy i spoke to. I wasnt interested in the Aprilias as i have head too many storys of unreliable motors, but i thought that cagivas might be a bit better/ more reliable, i dont know? I have got a scoot to sell at the min, and then im gonna start looking for a nice project bike. Top of my list is another KMX200, as i was a twat to sell mine, and i dont think that anyone has ever supermoto'd a KMX, so that could be a good project, if i find one. Ive bin to loadsa dealers with my scoot, as so far i aint had any luck from my ad in the paper. The only dealer that wants to give me anything is QB Motorcyles. £900 px against another bike. They have a 98 KMX125 which is cosmetically tatty for £1495, id only pay £1000 for tops, or an RD350R M reg with 5500miles for £1795. I aint looking for a 350YPVS but id probably give it some thought for £1500. Bit of a fast winter hack tho! |

Cheers Keith, yeah your thoughts have confirmed what i was thinking, and il leave it well alone. My best option in some ways is another kawasaki, and im thinking KMX/KDX/AR125 or bigger, as a 2nd bike that i can buy cheap and re-build over winter, to keep as a 2nd bike for running around on. I say this as im Close to Cradley Kawasaki, and they have been great for spares for my old KMX, and i belive they are one of the biggest spares stockists in europe for Kawasaki's, and getting spares quickly and easy is definately one of the most important things to me. dream 2nd bike though is a CRM250AR s/moto, but due to the price of them, im convincing myself that a KMX will do nearly as well!
Cheers Anyway,
Steve. |
