After fitting the jet kit to the storm last week and advancing the ignition this weekend, I've noticed a strange problem.

When you're twatting it at full throttle for about a minute, it will start to run out of fuel. Let off for a few seconds and it's back to normal. It's as if it's drinking the float bowls dry faster than they can fill up again. It runs normally otherwise, this only ever happens when keeping it absolutely pinned on the motorway (160+). Is it really drinking the fuel this quick? So far it's done 90 miles on a full tank and no evil orange light of doom, so if anything it's as if the mileage has improved.

Me is confused Shocked. Anyone have a clue?

(Apart from that I'm loving it, there's a real top end rush to it now and the arse-o-meter pronounces it phucking quick)

Nope, plain old gravity.

Hmmm, maybe I should chuck the gokart fuel pump on there and see what happens Question

So does the bike feel as though it's running out of fuel whilst the throttle is pinned? Or as soon as you release it?

Maybe a run and tweak on a Dyno would be a good idea?

While pinned. But only if you've had it pinned for about a minute, anything shorter and it's fine.

Nope. Though I'm not really considering putting it on the storm, it's home will be on the gokart. Looking through a few mailing list archives people have had similar problems, which apparently go away if you bolt on a cbr600 fuel pump. I wonder if I can find a cbr600 anywhere around here, parked on the street 'n that Wink

Oh yeah, and I assume that you've made the appropriate airbox/filter mods?

Hmmm, it's stopped doing it now Rolling Eyes

I very nearly punched it tonight 'cos it kept blowing fuses, but then I found out it was actually my fault and apologised profusely.

It rewarded me with just shy of 175mph, I love this bike Laughing

Where did you get that funky circuit breaker type fuse (not sure if it was you I saw with it)?

I traced my problem to a trapped wire earthing on the frame where I had been in a hurry to fit the clocks back on and buggered the insulation, but it took about 20 fuses and finding and unplugging every other thing attached to that circuit Shocked

It should be fine (touches desk), I've stocked up on spares. Your kwak fuses are bigger anyway, aren't they?

Oh yea, forgot you use mini-blade fuses, bloody weirdo thingamies.

You can't get ciruit breakers in that size. It is however possible to wire up something with a normal sized blade fuse holder that plugs into the fuse socket.
