hey guys,

Ive got a 2001 faired Bandit 600,

Went out yesterday and noticed the engine braking had kinda dissapeared, so stopped and noticed it was idling at 2000rpm instead of 1200-1300 like normal. carried on and then stopped again, eventually it went down to 1500 then back to normal a while later. Then last nite it was on about 1100 idling, then settled down again to normal. (the bike was warm and it wasnt really cold outside)
I dont know much about bikes but maybe the choke was stuck or something?

Any help would be much appreciated,

Thanks, Very Happy

Things to check for:

Choke on slightly/stiff choke cable.

Too much free-play on the throttle cable causing cable outer to fall out of holder.

Throttle not "snapping" shut due to:
Throttle tube binding on the bar
Stiff cable due to badly routed/pinched in steering lock-stop
Not enough throttle cable free-play.

Air leak between carbs and enging (not likely and wouldn't rectify itself)

Foreign matter stuck under a butterfly (not likely)

WD40 is a temporary fix at best. It will evaporate and/or run away. 3 in 1 penetrating oil/ Handy oil is ideal.

I found the adjustment screwy bit on my choke cable would work loose essentially making my choke permanently half on.
