It's a sad fact that the media with their selective story-writing would never put such a scene in their newspaper. Neither on TV.

I wish their were more reports on the human struggle and human perseverance, rather than the political sides of war.

At times of war, you get extreme amazement brought about by the human race, some of the most touching images and texts you could ever see. The problem is with the media in general is that you never see it. All you see is the horrid face of war.

we need to remember that there wdnt be any killings and insurgents if bush and blair hadnt decided to fuck up iraq in the first place.

saddam had things under control before iraq turned into a place of anarchy

ok he killed a few thousand but nothing like the number that have died since bush and blair got involved.

the only reason he had to kill the kurds was that they were being backed by israel and iran to fight for an independant homeland. ok his methods were extreme but shock and awe with fuel air explosives, white phosphorous and carpet bombing isnt much different from shock and awe with nerve gas, people still die painfully

americans even have a phrase for it 'collateral damage' regrettable but necessary

Its not crap.

Why dont you get it ? America and Britain invaded a foreign country resulting in tens of thousands of death and then prosecuted its leader for killing a few hundred. (And yes i know Saddam killed more than that.)

At the moment on ch4 there is a good tv show dramatising the idea of tony blair being put on trial for war crimes in initiating an aggressive war on Iraq.

Ok it wouldnt happen, but i think it should.

the kurds were fighting in northern iraq to establish their won country, they were being supported by anyone who wanted to destabilise Iraq

Iraq had the choice, to either let them have their own land, contain them with minimum force, or destroy them.

Saddam chose to destroy them, he successfully killed guerrilla fighters with nerve gas, and killed civilians in the area too. Americans would call this collateral damage.

The Psychological Warfare effect of such a terrifying weapon would have an even greater effect. Americans call this sort of thing Shock and Awe. You overwelm your enemy so he loses his will to fight.

It was the americans who supplied him with chemical weapons in the first place so its ironic that they then get Iraq to kill him for using them.

You may disagree with me and think Blair and Bush were right to kill thousands of Iraqis because Saddam was a bad man, but more have died as a result of Bush and Blair than have died as a result of Saddam. Thats not crap. Its a fact.

I dont included the Iran Iraq war tho, as that was instigated by america, to try to keep the ayatolla in check after the overthrow of the shah.

Dropping FAE's on military targets and minefields, using white phosphorus grenades to clear bunkers and entrenched infantry - and people like you misusing the term carpet-bombing - all have moral equivalence to deliberately targeting civilians with nerve gas in retribution for a failed assassination attempt by someone else?

I dont think killing people is ok.

I dont think Bush and Blair have any more right to kill people than Saddam has.

I dont think Saddam killed people because he is evil, but because he wanted to stay in power. This meant stability and law and order in the country, soemthing which is now sadly lacking.

Sometimes law and order is more important than human rights, if thousands of people die in factional fighting without law and order.

I hope you understand my point of view a bit better now.

Fallujah was obliterated because of the deaths of a car full of american defence contractors.

Using cluster bombs, incendiary weapons, and kill-anything-that-moves policies in a heavily populated area are not much different in my opinion to killing a much smaller number of people with nerve gas.

Its not the weapon that is wrong, its the deaths that result.

If 10 people are killed by nerve gas, thats just as bad as if 10 civilians die as a result of some other weapon.

Iraq wasn't unpleasent before Bush and Blair took office? I have to admit, I never saw the brochures at Lunn Polly in the 1990's for an all-inclusive at Basra beach.

Again, I reject the premise upon which you base your statements.

They made every effort to clear the area of civilians, anyone who did stay was under no illusion as to what was going to occur if they stayed. Action was taken against the town because it was a hotbed of heavily armed insurgents, not because of a single car-full of contractors, hundreds if not thousands of which have died since with hardly a murmur from the US or the media.

Coming back to the original picture its nice to show these type of pictures which demonstrate kindness and care. Soldiers cannot be blamed for the choices made by bush and blair.

There are many conflicts, wars, injustices ( whaever you want to call it) around the world, why doesnt the US and blair actually go to these regions and liberate them? or free the people? or find another poor excuse? = as they will not gain any benefit, i,e, oil.
