 |
|
hello people.
my temp gauge isnt moving when the engine is warm it just stays on the resting needle, but when i touch the wire on to the cylinder it rockets up to the max. this does this on any metal part of the engine EG bolts, screws, cylinder wall, cylinder head. but only when the ignition is turned on. everything else works but the temp gauge.
any ideas what i could check to solve the problem of the temp gauge not working?
iv put a new connector on the end of the wire as the old one was corroded a bit but it still refuses to work
thanks for your replys and help!! ____________________ Dont do a wheelie in front of a traffic copper... it gets you 3pts and £220 fine. |

sounds like your sensor is poked, when you touch it to the engine you are completing the circuit,
the sensor changes resistance as it heats up, hence how the guage comes up with a reading that is accurate, in your case its an open circuit and the guage thinks its icy cold water being pumped about
get a new sensor ____________________ the humans are dead

What he said, but also check you actually have some coolant in your radiator first.

theres water and antifreeze in there, rads full. yesterday i was riding it and the temp reading was 47*C the needle stopper is at 40*C so was working yesterday, could it be the cold weather that would make the temp gauge not work? i mean keeping the engine temp below 40*C not accually causing the temp gauge to stop working ____________________ Dont do a wheelie in front of a traffic copper... it gets you 3pts and £220 fine. |
