 |
|
Right basically, I've been lookign to get off my 125 Chinese crap and get onto a bigger bike. Got my theory done and my test booked for March the 2nd along with 2 full training days booked for Feb 28th and March 1st.
Most of the time I've been looking at getting a CBR600F but lately I've been thinking it might be too much for me or anything. So I've been looking at 400's. Mainly CBR or VFR. But I've yet to find a CBR400 that I like the look off or looks well kept. And just now I've seen a very nice looking VFR 400.
Here's the VFR's description
| Quote: | 31,050 miles, RED AND BLACK, MOT-02-2008. ALL KEYS AND PAPERWORK SUPPLIED, BARGAIN, CASH EITHER WAY, CREDIT OR DEBIT CARDS WELCOME, DELIVERY ANYWHERE FOR A FEE, Established 25 years, FOR A VIEWING PLEASE CALL US, Garaged, GREAT VALUE, PART EXCHANGE WELCOME, PRICED TO SELL, SIMILIER BIKES BOUGHT FOR CASH, SMALL DEPOSIT SECURES, TAXED, WARRANTY, WILL HOLD ON SMALL DEPOSIT. FITTED WITH R AND G RACING EXHAUST CAN, TAXED TO THE END OF MAY 2007. £1,295. |
https://pictures.autotrader.co.uk/ATD_web/servlet/media?id=465216761
The best thing is it's only 24 miles way from me and I'm going to see it this Tuesday.
Basically I'm just wondering the differences between the VFR and the CBR 400. Would like a CBR600F but price and my grandad thinking I'll kill myself has kind of put me off it. Maybe later eh?
Is £1300 for a '91 VFR 400 with 31k miles a good price? Mileage too high? What about CBR400's? Haven't seen any that catch my eye. What are they like? ____________________ '99 Hornet 600 , VFR 400 NC30 '92 , Kasawamasaki GT 550 , '98 Hornet 600

So are you not going to read the NC29 vs NC30 thread? (CBR v VFR)...

Ah sorry. I didn't know NC29 and NC30 meant CBR or VFR ... don't know too much about bikes yet...
But just wondering if the VFR I'm looking at is a good deal? ____________________ '99 Hornet 600 , VFR 400 NC30 '92 , Kasawamasaki GT 550 , '98 Hornet 600

From the picture that looks like its a Motorcycles Unlimited in Perivale.
If it is be very careful with them and don't bother listening to what the guy has to say about the bike as he doesn't know anything about them.
I bought my R1 from them, was told it was a UK bike and it will have an MOT when I pick it up. Then I find out it was German and was MOT passed by a blind man.
They have loads of bike there and they are selling some of them at silly prices. Get the bike HPI cleared before you part with any money.
I hate shinny bike syndrome |

It doesn't even sound worth the effort of going to look. The dealers sound like too much of a messer before you've even got there. |

How so?
And considering it's one of the bikes that is closest to me..
I'm going to ee it on Tuesday anyways. Gonna check with my friend if everything's ok and everything. Hopefully get the price down a bit. ____________________ '99 Hornet 600 , VFR 400 NC30 '92 , Kasawamasaki GT 550 , '98 Hornet 600

You have no idea how muh I've wanted a CBR600F. I'd even borrow money from my dad or mum and pay them back from a job that I will hopefully get.
It's just my grandad has a friend who used to race in the Isle of Man apparently and when my grandad asked him about the CBR he said "CBR? That's a sportsbike. He'll kill himself. I wouldn't let my grandson on one" doubt he'd let his grandson on a 125 either
The insurance on the CBR is about 700 a year TPO only. Only 30 more than last year on my 125. And on a VFR400 the insurance is about 500 TPO.
Would love a CBR600F but I think a 400 would be wiser choice. I have been riding for a year and 2 months though so it's not like I'm inexperienced. Nothing bigger than a 125 though.
Still want a 600
I think I will be looking at another VFR400. It's 24 miles away from me, roughly same age and mileage. But plain black and silver. and it's only £995. I've also been looking into convertions of the front fairing as I hate the twin circle headlights. Saw a much nicer headlight fairing for the NC30
Want to change the ugly twin circle headlight fairing

For this beauty.

I'm also going to change the back end. For something much sexier. I've looked at several pointy ends that still have 2 seats and would actually fit with the above fairing. Getting well excited. Gonna get it all spray painted black at a local place for about 100-150 my friend thinks and then get some vinyls. Trying to go for a stealth look. Black and gray all the way ____________________ '99 Hornet 600 , VFR 400 NC30 '92 , Kasawamasaki GT 550 , '98 Hornet 600

It's an import. UK bikes were all red / white / blue. Not a clue why you'd want to do an NC30 up like a dogs dinner with all that tacky bodywork, but hey ho. ____________________ 18:54:48 Rob Fzs: jews don't give away stuff for free

True, although I thikn I'll be keeping the original fairings. The bike I'm actuyally looking at has slight damage. Nothig major. My whole plan was to keep the original fairings in for ahwile till I get used to the bike and then add the fairings I want. And when it comes to selling it if I sitll have the original fairings then I'll just change them. Though I'd think I'd probably sell them after awhile.

It'll let you know Wednesday earliest. One is just otuside of London and the other is in OXford. Both are 20 miles away from me. In opposite directions
VERY NICE! That's the sort of tail I want. But how would I go about fitting one? Would I need ot byu a subframe, etc? The tail I wa slookign at came with everything. Subframe, battery holder, etc. And I owuld so want to change the front fairing.
