hello, i got a peugeot speedifight 2, 100cc, my engine wont seem to start, the battery had originally ran out, but now its charged, i try n start it and it just wont, it jus keeps bumping, and smoke comes out the back each bump only a lil, but the smell of petrol is present, the kickstart wont work atall, its as if the joint has rubbed down and is broken, the battery is 100% fine, but the kickstart is gone, ANY IDEAS what could be wrong? i was thinking of taking the side of the engine off to check out to see if it was slipping or what.

Just take your side transmission cover off and you can then have a closer inspection. The teeth may have ground off the kick-start or may be out of position. Post some pictures up if you can mate so we can have better look. Wink

normally the teeth on the cog, connected directly to the kickstart lever shaft, chip off. Thats whats happened to mine and its quite common. Best bet is to find a spare complete casing as Ive never seen that individual cog on ebay... I missed one on ebay which was local and went for £7 Rolling Eyes Crying or Very sad Then you'll have the casing itself to either keep as a spare or sell off for the price you paid for it Thumbs Up

does it look the same as yours? Same year? Same cc? Same bike?

If all four are yes, then it is.

Thumbs Up

Exactly the problem I have at the moment. I only have a 50cc Speedfight 2. When it tryed to start it would squeal with slight smoke and a burst of it actually trying to start. I checked the plug, battery and fuse and there all fine. Now when the ignition is on Indi's and rear light work, but when I try to start it, all I hear is a click coming from around where the battery is. It won't try to turn over at all. I've been told that it's the starter motor.

Hope this helps.

the picture does look exact like mine, mines a 52 plate, well it does start, i would say the perfect way to describe it, is how it sounds on a FREEZING morning, just makes that inicial starting sound over and over, and like i said, the kickstart is completely worn down im guessing, would the fact the kickstart is worn down afect the actual electric start?

They may have some thread glue on them. What i usually do with tight bolts is put the allen key in.(Long length in the bolt). Then i just grab an adjustable with a hole on the end, I then latch it on the end of the allen key and off it comes. Just be careful as they are very easy to thread and not so easy to get rid off once threaded. Good luck.

what voltage is you battery putting out? they need a good new battery to start, the immobiliser only stops them from revving up, not starting, the batter needs to be over 13V on a tester to wind it over fast enough, the batteries are cheap from new and you say it was flat and you charged it but you may need a new one anyway

that side casing on ebay is useless to you since the kickstart spline isnt sticking out so it looks like it doesnt come with any of the parts you need..

the cog you are looking for I have never seen seperatly on ebay.

I got a speedfight haynes manual here somewhere. Ill dig it out...

Never had a problem getting the bolts out either. Sounds to me like copper grease wasnt used previously or someones used different bolts maybe.. You said you tried drilling them out?

Also sounds to me like its trying to turn over but theres something preventing it kick over. Stupid question but have you tried giving it a flick of the throttle when pressing the leccy start?

Few things that have stopped my speedfight starting in the past... Fell over once and couldnt start it for love nor money. Eventually started after 3 or 4, 10 second bursts on the leccy start. Another time the fuel vacuum hose had split and it wouldnt start..

Also was it running fine until the battery died?
