HI all
As some of you may recall I have joined a gym and I have been working BLUDDY hard at it too!
Doing the program set for me... extending that.. also doing a bit of running on top. (About an hour and 10 minutes 4 times a week)
It has been exactly 2 weeks since my first 'session', so I thought I would weigh myself
I am HALF A STONE HEAVIER than I was when I started
Now, I heard that because you gain some muscle you will not lose as much as you want for a while, but I haven't lost anything at all!!! It's the bluddy reverse
Surely I should have burned off a lot of fat and that would balance out gaining the weight of the muscle
I was feeling better in myself. Thought my face looked thinner, trousers looser, but was that just positive thinking and it is all in my head??
Now I know my weight I feel fat as sh*t again
I just can't get my head round half a stone.
Jeez
*Edit: AND I have been eating healthy. Salads, supplements, veggies....

Half a stone in two weeks does sound a bit odd (it's be quit a good target for those trying to put weight on, not lose it) but I wouldn't be too concerned, it's early days yet and your body is going to need to get used to the change (it may be trying to 'fight you', storing every calorie it can)
You mention supplements, what kind of supplements? Taking on more proteins and calories (in healthy food) will make your body put on more weight (if it amounts to more than 'normal', and is not burned up by work out). This isn't much of a problem either as it sounds like you're more toned.
As stated, don't worry: being healthy is not always about weight. You sound like you're seeing physical benefits already, this will continue if you keep it up; over time your metabolism will speed up and burn more calories; after about 6 months you'll feel (and look) a different person.

Just things like green tea, garlic, b complex, vitamin e
Not like weight training stuff
So half a stone is odd... Oh god
Stupid body
I don't starve myself, far from it, .. I know that if you don't eat enough your body thinks..'oo when will I get food again, I had better hold onto whatever I get', and that is when you retain the weight
I have (approx) the following in calories every day:
Bfast(150)
Morning snack(50-100)
Lunch(200)
Dinner(400-500)
Afters(100 sometimes)
I WILL keep this gymming up! I can't let the scales defeat me
I can see definition in my legs so I know I am getting toned
With men and women it is different with regards to the gym I feel
Men want to gain muscle and size. It doesn't really matter about weight (not all men, but a lot). They want to look huge
Women want to just weigh less. End of. And look good
Maybe I should give the weight lifting machines up? Just concentrate on aerobic stuff??

Silly question:
Are you drinking more water than normal?

Last year, I paid out more money than I actually had for a personal trainer to help me get in shape. After about a month, I felt great, my pudgy tummy wasn't poking over the top of my jeans as much, and I was feeling like I was finally getting back to being "in shape".
I was very diappointed when I weighed myself at the gym to find I'd GAINED 10lbs. When it got too expensive, I stopped going to the gym and over the next few months of travelling constantly for work, gained even more.
I've been trainng on my own and watching what I ate recently. I don't own a scale though, so I've only been noting my progress by measurements and how loose my clothing has been getting. It's a lot more encouraging to do it that way, becuase I can see actual progress, instead of just relying on a number on the scale.
So I say: go by how you feel, and how your clothes are fitting, and forget about weighing yourself. |

Dont starve yourself and cut to mega low calories. If you starve yourself your body actually retains fat and stores anything you eat so therefor it is harder to loose weight. Each the recomended calories but all healthy food.
Do more cardio and less weights as its the cardio that burns the most calories.
And 2 weeks is to soon, weigh yourself and look at how much fitters and toned you are in about 2 months time. ____________________ My Bike Pics |

I've been off work now for 3 months (im back on the 18th Feb) after a leg injury which prevented me from running etc...
I decided to turn to weights and bulk up - which i have. My weight has gone up by 2/3 pounds but i feel better for it.
I've said it once and i'll say it again: you cant judge people by their weight |

900 cals a day is too low. I done this, posted on here somewhere a while ago. Lost 2 stone in a month. I was ill - Wont be doing it again.
Need to change your cals each day, your motab 'thinks' ahead. Thinks its getting 1500 cals a day, when infact you give it 1000 - then it will start to eat the fat.
If you do anyless, it will eat at the muscle.
This is what ive been told |
