tbh I don't think you'll get much more from a YBR125. I ride around the pennines quite alot and being a bit of a fat ass the bike struggles to pull more than 40 up a steep hill, even when in the lowest suitable gear reving the tits off it... It will touch an indicated 70 coming down the other side though
The bikes just don't have the power to race about, and it's not what they're designed to do. When you say refined what exactly do you mean??? It's a motorbike not a Rolls Royce! I thought that was part of their charm?

i can vouch for how hilly malvern is (i live there), and if a ybr125 can cope ok here then i'd say its powerfull enough for general pootling around |

I've been on a CG but found the styling not to my taste, looks too, I don't know, boring I suppose... Did the cbt on a SR125, good bike can't vouch for speed as it was the cbt, it makes a nice noise, kinda throaty chug chug but the seat was too low.
I have a CLR125, makes a nice noise, has a cool shiny exhaust set high up on the right and is described as an Urban Scrambler, what ever the hell that means...
I like it though, performance is probably much the same as a CG manages 60 on the flat, a dizzy 70 going down hill (with the wind beneath your wings, as it were...) Good upright sitting position and its quite rare, only seen one other. (I went to Bournemouth for it, saw it on here and had to have it )
Only downside is as soon as you get a puff of wind in your face, you're doing 50, regardless... |

Heh I usually take it out and abuse it at the weekends... Can't be bothered to ride the YBR too hard, it's too much effort for not alot of gain! Also I want to sell it very soon, so I'm keen to keep it in good knick.

The YBR I was on seemed to have plenty of pull through all the gears up until about 65 and then it sort of died, as expected. Very smooth bike. Don't like the sitting position compared to the GS, it's very close to being like a cruiser. ____________________ Go back to bed - You have no rights - "Streetfighters ~ Mainstream motorcycling's crackwhore sister." |

A cruiser???? Are you like 8 feet tall and sit on the pillion? It's just a basic naked upright postion... ____________________ Current Bikes - Kawasaki ZX-6R (636) | BMW G650GS |

Overall it sounds like its just a little bit nicer than the CG, I'm still curious about the restriction.
"It can develop a maximum of 12 horsepower at 8,000 revolutions per minute, and maximum torque of 11.6 Nm at 6,500 rpm, but the new european version with catalysator (2005) can develop a maximum of 10,3 horsepower at 7,600 rpm, and maximum torque of 10 Nm. It has electric start and CDI ignition."
Thats what wikipedia has to say about it, i've heard other people mention the exhaust, has anyone tried a pre 05 model? |

I have driven mine round malvern (some big ass hills there as its one huge hill) and its doesnt strugle. As for the restriction ive been told its 12bhp and mines on a 56 plate bought in december. |
This is a bit off topic but I think I may have seen you in Worcester. I have seen someone riding a Red YBR and the guy nodded at me once. Mine is blue.
Spent the last 2 days in Malvern at my mates house. Couldnt get home because of all the snow . ____________________ Current: MT-10, Bandit, Grom, GPZ500

Small world eh?
Yeah, I go through Powick quite a lot on my way to Malvern. My mate lives in Malvern and I usually ride up there then we ride together or something.
I will keep an eye out for you .
Do you ever ride through the middle of Worcester? Because I saw the red YBR several times going towards the Cathedral past a motorbike shop called Skellerns and past the Tech College in the centre of town. ____________________ Current: MT-10, Bandit, Grom, GPZ500

Yeah, the snow has been quite an annoyance but I still rode around in it . Just have to basically not use the brakes. Of course how I found that out was rather amusing (sliding along my road nearly falling off).
Anyway, Im going riding around tomorrow around Worcester around 3pm so maybe I will see you . All the snow is gone now . I hope ____________________ Current: MT-10, Bandit, Grom, GPZ500
