Hi all.

I was searching BCF for old articles on upgrading the late-shape NSR's headlight bulbs for brighter ones, and everyone was saying that the maximum they could find was 35W in the Bosch BA20D fitting. Well if it is any help to anybody i've found an online retailer which sells 45/40W BA20D bulbs for just 85p!! (bedspeed is about £5/£6 per bulb).

Click here to see the site (normalec.com) Note the BA20D bulbs are more than half way down the page, just press CTRL and F and type BA20D then hit 'Find Next'.

Hope this helps someone.

But wouldnt changing the bulbs to a brighter one actually make the light dimmer, as the voltage gonig through would still be 35w. and being as the filement will be different it will actually be dimmer. ??

No, thats not how a bulb works. The VOLTAGE going 'through' is 12v regardless of the WATTAGE of the bulb. The higher wattage of the new bulb will draw a larger current through them. Providing this is not higher than the rating of the fuse and more importantly , the cable, then it will be brighter.

Damn Honda and they're Bosch light fittings on the NSR!
Anyone ever tried to navigate a foggy nightime country lane with standard NSR lights?
45/40 sounds a bit high for an NSR-you might wanna check the fuse can take it and if the standard fuse can't then go for lower wattage-you don't want to knacker the wiring or melt the headlight "glass"

isn't standard 25/25? i think i upped mine to 35/30, which is the highest M&P did at the time.

Nope as True Blue said, thats not how it works. The standard NSR bulbs are 25w, but alot of people fit 35w bulbs because they're quite a bit brighter. Because the BA20D is an obsolete fitting they are quite hard to find, and up until now the only thing we could find were 35w bulbs from bedspeed for £6.

i was comparing havingmore/better lights t NV goggles. visable light doesn't affect them, IR/heat.
I've seen a review of a diesal crosser for military use with a built in IR light source insteat...very nice!

Have not tried them yet m8, i'm going to give them a ring and order some. On nsr125.de forums there are a few threads where people have fitted 55/50w without problems, so I dont think these should be.

TGE - Your low beam filaments have blown, replace the headlight bulbs. The low beam should come one with the rh switch all the way over to the left and the high beam button off.

I only had one bulb working in the first place i thought it was strange, but they both work with full beam on!

I have one spare bulb somewhere.

Mandatory TGE post saying 'I've broken something' per thread now satisfied.

Might be better off not posting in a thread that's 3 years old...

I suggest you use google if the link posted at the top is dead..
