 |
|
Just bought a bike off ebay it came with one of those carbon look tank protectors, but it's well knackered and peeling off in places anyway.
What's the best way to remove it without taking all the paint off the tank??
My best guess would be petrol and a credit card to scrape it, but thought I'd ask here first
Thanks

Funnily enough I have an old tank protector that I need to remove. I was planning to try white spirit because it seems to be very effective against most adhesives I’ve come across and there’s marginally less chance of setting fire to myself!
Incidentally a lot of tank protectors boast adhesive that is petrol resistant, for obvious reasons…. ____________________ 2007 CBF1000 & 2016 CBF1000F - Commuter heaven | 1994 CBR600FR - Awaiting defibrillation |

I'll add my experiences with the hairdryer method. As you peel it off, peel it off slowly, so that you don't rip bits off leaving bits of adhesive on the tank, I made this mistake with my warning stickers, so just a heads up. ____________________ Be careful whose advice you buy, but, be patient with those who supply it.
