Now, i need your help geezers, is there a chance there are no bits of metal in the engine?. Because it looks like it all got squashed at the top looking at the pic. Confused

Also i have one problem i cant take my exhuast off, theres one fukin bolt that takes allen key but the allen key it takes i put it inside tried twisting it to the left and the allen key broke!. Its an impossible bolt. someone help me think of a way i could take the bolt off, so i can take the barrel off to see if i need a new barrel and piston... heres the pics of the exhaust bolt.. Sad

it looks as if you have been running very weak which has caused a hole in the top of the piston. Did you upjet the carb when you put on the polini? Either that or an air leak making the engine run excessively lean.

Unlucky, that looks a mess, did that a few times to my RD125LC many years ago! That had a 190cc kit and kept blowing up.

You're going to have to split the crankcases and get all the bits of melted piston out, if you stick a new piston in without doing this then run the motor it will go bang again very shortly, barrel looks ok but hard to tell by the pics, you may get away with just a new piston.

Strapstah, Keep all the receipts and photos as Asda now say their fuel was contaminated with silicone, you may get compensation if the station where you got the fuel is contaminated.

Quote:

Morrisons withdrew unleaded petrol from sale at 41 of its filling stations on Friday, including its Norwich store in Albion Way, which was supplied by the Essex depot. Superstore Tesco also emptied unleaded fuel tanks at forecourts across the region after tests showed they had been contaminated.

On Sunday Tesco and Asda were working to replace unleaded at each forecourts. The supermarkets are promising to pay compensation to customers whose cars have suffered damage.

I would go back to the place you purchased the fuel from and ask them if they have had any reports of problems with their stock of fuel. It may be worth asking the person running the pumps and then the store manager, dont take your first reply as gospel. If there has been a problem you will need to speak to the manager to tell him what has happened to your bike.

Hey Strap,

I don't know if you still frequent this forum, but I have a Minarelli AM6 engine, as used in the Aprilia RX50.

I'd be pretty willing to bet that it's compatible with the MX50, and it might be more economical to buy it then to pay a mechanic to strip down your existing engine.

If you still need an engine and are interested, PM me:)
