Bike Cuts Out When Idling

Bike Cuts Out When Idling, does it straight away in gear, (even with clutch in) but in neutral idles for 30 secs then starts to slow down til cuts out.

becoming a problem at roundabouts etc... look like a prick revving it to keep it goin...

Though it mite be summit else as it cuts out immediately in gear (with clutch in) -- maybe clutch needs fine adjustment...

Stick a new plug in it or clean and gap your old one. 0.020" or 0.5mm is about right I should think.

Most probably be the idle speed. My mate set his very low on his bike enough so it would cut out if he doesnt rev it when riding. He likes to get as much miles per gallon out of his bike as possible and will do anything for a bit extra .

could be water in the carb my rs50 did that when i first got it

Mine does this for the first 10-15 mins of riding, unless I keep the choke out (which I figure I shouldn't). I have to keep the revs up whilst idling else she'll cut out.

What's the deal with the choke anyhow? Is it just for 5 mins or so whilst warming up in the morning?

Sorry to resurrect this...

I'm still having problems with her cuttin out at low-ish revs - she doesn't idle too cleanly any more (it's more of a splutter than a purr) and often as I'm coming to a stop there'll be a clicking noise and she's gone and I have to push the starter again.

One thing I didn't mention last post, is that I had her serviced a few weeks ago, and they fitted a new spark plug for me. Would this have anything to do with it? Do bike plugs need to be 'gapped' like car plugs? Or might it be something to do with fuel supply?

iv just had same prob with my gn125 it was the coil.. cost me £75 and wiped out most off my bulbs not a good week for me ...

Chap at the garage is wrong. The gap should be about .032" (0.8mm)

New sparking plugs can be a pile of poo, try a new plug if gapping it does not help.
The changing of the plug seems to be conected with the problem but as it was on a service when the bike went tits up why not take it back and ask them to sort it?
