 |
|
Ok... i've been painting my race bike over the past couple of days.
I've only got the petrol tank NEARLY done so far.
What do you think?
https://img71.imageshack.us/img71/1872/pict0252tk7.jpg
I didn't use spray cans or a spray gun, or any spray equipment what so ever.....
Good ole paint brush, thinners, and Crown non-Drip Gloss!!
Any tips on how to get it to a mirror shine? |

I remember Smoto Bobs mini, That thing was brush painted.
For a bit of help on getting a shine and a nice finish, A mate of mine is "Roller painting", (Yup, Thats with a regular paint roller) his Mini Clubman.
Hes also using Rustoline paint and thinners!

looks real sweet , OT but Suzuki TS125's have somewhat flexible panels, how could they be resprayed without craking the paint when dry?

Laquer will do the exact opposite of what you claim. You want Urethane Clearcoat to stop scratches & chips. Laquer based shit is absolutely the WORST thing you can coat something with
lacquer is absolutely great for for a glossy finish, and fine for protecting the paint from chips, this is why, when cars are sprayed its generally lacquer thats used, not being argumentative or anything, but i used to spray cars and was just bewildered when you said lacquer would do the opposite

looks really good for a brush job as for comments on laquer wouldnt bother laquering over house paint, not because its crap but if you have brush painted its not worth the exspense of spray laquering it or the health risk.and as for laquer not been used anymore every car and bike that is repaired is laquered if its metallic paint and even most solid colours are (like reds dont fade as bad ).also all bodyshops by law in the uk have since jan 2007 gone to water based paint which is a base coat (either metallic or solid colour water based ) followed by low voc (solvent) laquer solvent based solid colours now only for use at the mo on comercial vehicles.

"used to spray cars" being the operative phrase, you need to go back to tech school & stop using '70's technology. lacquer hasn't been used "generally" for at least 20 years...
& you should know just how hard lacquer sets up.... which is why it has next to fuck all chip resistance.
However, it is "absolutely great for a glossy finish".. for about the first 6 months.... |
ABSOLUTE FUCKING BOLLOCKS!!!
WHAT A TWAT not interested in what car manufactures use, as that is what im suspecting you're on about with your 20 year nonsense, lacquer is like gloss in a house.................. old but still fucking good, you fucking RETARD, sorry to be offensive but that bollocks wound me up you ignorant git
and as for 70's im 23 you bollock |
