Your english is pretty bad... Confused pull out the clutch??

Sometimes changing from 1st to 2nd you can get a crunch but that’s usually down to your timing.

Just pulling in the clutch shouldn’t do this.

How is your clutch cable, is it still tight?

sorry about the bad english lol

hopefully you understand what i mean...

sometimes when it happens i do fiddle with the clutch (pull the flap back and un-screw it and tighten it so theres a little play in the clutch area.

and timing could be it aswell..

Adjust chain, make sure clutch is fully disengaged when you pull the lever, and finally, make sure you give it a good solid kick up the gearbox when shifting Wink

Hi there

I have an XR125 and it does the same thing. It's like the gears grate whenever you change gear... However I have been reliably informed this is due to the clutch being a very basic setup and doesn't have an extra part within the clutch to make the biting point smoother that other more expensive bikes would have. (I can't remember what the parts are called).

You can minimise this with careful clutch control, and you get more used to it as time goes by. I can ride now with hardly any grating going on - you just have to balance the clutch with the revs rather than just letting the clutch out then accelerating.

Hope this helps!

Yep as Beanfeast says Thumbs Up

My XR125 was very clunky - but you definitely know when you've got it in gear!

You should hear my hubby's Fazer - you could hear him put it in first from the end of the street Shocked

The most difficult thing I find to do with this bike is set off quickly! Once in 2nd gear I'm away, it's just the initial standing start where I always find 1st gear a nightmare until the clutch is fully out and the rev's are up high! Embarassed

If you put the bike into first then roll the bike back and forth before you start it then the clunk will be reduced. Its only oil drag on the clutch plates.

As for the 1st to 2nd change, it wont happen if you get the engine speed right to the gearbox speed. basically its user abuse and will come with practise and nothing to do with the design of the clutch.
