 Posted: 13:50 - 26 Mar 2007 Post subject: Drivers Tailgating L-Plate Riders |
 |
|
The other day i saw something which made me a bit angry, coming off of sheperds bush a newish looking rider with a spanking new CG125/YBR125 with clean L-Plates was just exiting sheperds bush on the dual carriageway stint to the A40, im a few cars back, when some wanker in an Audi A3 or somesuch undertakes a couple of car and then procesedes to slot in right behind the learner on the 125, if he was in such a rush there was pleanty of space to under take the bike also... but no... he was in an Audi and this rider is on a small bike with l plates...
This guy is fuckin inches from this poor guys rear wheel, you can see how nervous he is constantly checking the mirrors trying to find room to move over, but other car drivers arent budging...
I saw fuckin red, i dispatch on a 125 and know the feeling when you dont have the power to escape nutters like this, anyway i have undertaken the same cars the Audi did and then overtake the both of them and slot in next to the learner, and begin to gradually slow myself and in the process the audi giving the 125 the breathing room to move out the way, at which point i also move over, and then in the red mist procede to tailgate him for a goodwhile with main beams on...
Now my actions were wrong blah blah, no excuse blah blah... but why do these cunts think they can bully new riders if i could have i would have dragged him out of his Audi POS and beaten him with that guys shiney L-plates
This post has no real purpose other than for me to vent at assholes like the above, who when i was a learned i thankfully never had to deal with, i can only imagine what that learner was thinking of the whole situation... including my crazy-ish actions...

I got tailgated by a renault clio on way home from college today. I wasn't going slow, was doing about 65 ish. So i gradually slowed down and in the end the driver overtook me.
Is cool what ya did to try and get eh asshole off the back of the learner ____________________ CBT - Passed - 14/07/2006 Theory - Passed - 19/08/2006 A2 test - Passed -19/07/2007

It ain't just L Platers that get the grief d00d... I got busted fer speeding a month or so back, and (as I'm on the 2yrs - 6 points crap) have been sticking to the limits ever since... On a CB500 so by no means a "small" bike... and I'm constantly getting idiots right up my back wheel, then overtaking me dangerously. ____________________ FAB-Racing MiniMotoSidecars - Back with a vengeance - F1 Class 2011...

After all that i spouted i just got back from a ride and found myself having to consciously tell myself to back off from the learner driver in the outside lane of the a40... what a hypocrite eh
Seirously though i just ran up a bit hot on him, then backed right off... but what happened the other day with that audi i was surpirised at how much red mist i saw... when they cut me up now they usually just get the wanker gesture, i cant be arsed, and besides it spoils your ride. But i could feel the fuckin fear from that learner rider from 5 cars back...
I hope that dident put him off biking... |

I once had a go at a scooter rider who was having a right whinge at a woman on a new 125 with shiny new L-Plates on. He started having a go at me saying 'But did you see what she did...?' to which I said 'No' but it doesn't matter, she is plainly a new rider and will make stupid mistakes as every new rider will. You have to cut them some slack. It really made me see red, the poor learner was really shaken up by this fat old suited guy on a scooter having a go... Grr
I know not all scooter riders are like that but anyone that reguarly commutes into London will know the sort of person I am on about! ____________________ Love is 1050cc |

It doesn't matter whether it is a 125 or 600, cars tailgating bikes is just plain annoying. It happens too regularly with me, where I can't pass someone in front and I get some dick who plants themselves a couple of feet from my back wheel. The best way to get them to back off is to just touch the back brake pedal to activate the brake light, without brushing off any speed. That usually works for me but if it doesn't I look for a spot to undertake/overtake the car in front - not clever but sometimes unavoidable. ____________________ Using a mobile phone while driving a car should be made a capital offence! |

Not so long ago some chavs in their Corsa thing were tailgating me for quite a while. They started flashing their lights at me and they stuck full beam on so I couldnt see shit in my mirrors.
This was on city roads aswell and I wasnt going slow by any means. I really dont want a chav in a car right up my ass as they dont have the best of driving ability.

i saw an interesting battle on the way home from work today between a top of the range newish silver bentley, and a silver vectra
the thing that i first noticed, was them both switching lanes at a similar time, which resulted in the vectra nearly hitting the bentley, as he may have been in his blind spot
or this may have been to stop the bentley overtaking
this may have been the start of the duel, or i may have joined it halfway through
The bentley then drove on the vectras arse about half a foot away at 30- 40 mph.
The vectra retaliated by stamping on the brakes a few times, but bentley also braked, and just kept tailgating aggressively.
A little later i found myself between them, not realiseding the feud was still on, and had the bentley trying to get at the vectra through me. I pulled into a side road to let the nutter past, and then gave chase out of curiosity.
They then went onto the dudley bypass which is a 40 but most ppl drive at 60.
More aggressive tailgating and brake stamping from about 60 to about 40, with the vectra in front and the huge bentley behind.
It was quite odd to watch. I guess they were at it for a good mile, but they then split at the round about that i came off at.
Quite odd ____________________ colin1 is officially faster than god |

Giving the bars a shake makes the rear wheel skimmy in a disconcerting manner to any onlookers. Looks like you're about to fall off, this usually makes them back away.
I have slowed down so much I actually stopped when someone was tailgating me before (just backing off the throttle in 5mph increments). I then accelerated as hard as I could, right up to the speed I was doing before, this seemed to get the message across. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. I can't fuckin stand it I just ride at 20-30, even in NSL, then when i pull back up at lights etc, just filter to be in front of them, repeat process then after 5 or so minutes, promptly feck off with a nice departing hand gesture ____________________ Roger wrote: Women don't get damp for clingy puppies. If I get tailgated in the car, when I have to stop at lights or a junction, I 'accidently' put my car in reverse and rev very loudly. Looking at their faces in the mirror when they see the reverse lights come on, and they're 5 cm away from my bumper and can't go anywhere is hilarious!
Shame you can't do that on a bike though. |

I get it if they come too close what i normally do is flash the brake lights a few times, for some reason they nudge back abit or i go along and slam on the brakes so they know to fook off back. ____________________ Cheers,

I used to get this all the time in the company vans. I was so fed up with it I started braking late and hard all the time. With a huge metal tail lift between me and them, they got the message.
In the end, it's their fault if they crashed into me as they were too close.
I wouldn't like to experience it on a bike. Not at all.

Ahh, but what you can do, if there isn't any other traffic (Or if you don't care), is just simply sit there, even when the light goes green, and just wait... observe him getting all pissed off that the light is green and you aren't moving (He's obviously in a rush if he's driving up your arse), and as soon as the light hits amber just speed away, it'll be red before he has time to react, and he'll have to sit there for another cycle; by the time he does manage to leave you'll be long gone. ____________________ 1st: June 6th 2006 - Nov 6th 2006: 2001 Aprilia RS125 |2nd: Nov 12th 2006 - Present: 1991 Honda CBR400RR
