Crack in airbox at carb inlets

Hi all. I've got a crack on my left carb inlet on the outside. It seems to me the standard Hornet airbox is a few seperate parts plastic welded together, and the funnels which fit on the ends of the carbs seem to be done this way. This plastic weld seems to have come loose/cracked on the left side into carb #1, however I've had no performance issues or anything.

I was just wondering what I could use to seal this crack up. I'd ideally like something that is black in colour as this crack can just be seen from the outside.

mchaggis in this thread reccomends epoxy resin. Do places like B&Q sell this stuff? I'm a newb when it comes to sealants.

silicone sealant? just give it a while to dry, or just ditch it n slap on some k&n's Thumbs Up

Epoxy resin should do the job fine. Araldite is common and readily available. It sets clear but I'd recommend building up a 'bead' of the stuff over the crack so it's well covered.

Araldite 'rapide' sets in about 4-8 hours. Araldite 'precision' takes 24 hours but is stronger. You can buy it in any hardware store/ironmongers and probably most supermarkets and general stores too.

Two tubes, one has the resin, one has the hardner. They stay liquid until mixed then slowly set. You squirt equal quantities of each onto a bit of shiny cardboard and mix them together then apply it over the crack and leave to harden. Don't let the ends of the tubes touch one another or mix up the caps or they'll stick on.

You could also 'weld' it with a hot soldering iron. Melt a series of diagonal 'stitches' across the crack then melt it smooth along the crack. It's not load-bearing so this should work ok.
