The City Fly is a 125 so would be putting out somewhere between 11 and 14bhp
Restricted for a class A1 licence the ER5 will be belting out around 30 bhp. I've had my 28bhp machine up to 120km/h
The ER-5, GPZ500s and CB500 all seem to take the 33bhp restriction really well.
If you have been doing the same as I did on my DAS then I only actually found the powerband on it taking it back to the School after my pass so I doubt you'd notice much difference.
If I am understanding you correctly you are on a CBT right now and you are taking your DAS?
In which case you can't restrict an ER-5 down so you can legally ride it (not including riding lessons with a qualified instructor) - you are stuck with the 125cc restriction until you pass the test - whether that be on a 125cc bike or the schools ER5
and to be honest if you take the test on the schools ER-5 then you'll have an unrestricted licence. ____________________ Kal...

Thanks for the replies guys.
So are you saying that I am not allowed to ride the ER5 even when it is restricted to 13bhp? The person selling it said they had it reatricted and learnt on it no problems.
I have been learning on an ER5 with the driving school, and took my test on it yesterday, but failed due to not overtaking on a dual carriageway . Apart from that I had only 4 minors, and am confident I will pass in the next couple of months. |

Thanks for clearing that up Kai.
Yeah I was really gutted to not pass, being a teacher I would have had two weeks holiday to find a nice ride and play about on it . Now I have to wait until I can get a test slot, and have the free time to do it
You're right though, now I know how the test process works, and I know that I can pass it as long as I don't get unlucky. Just frustrating I got failed on such a stupid thing when I ride down that road every day on the way to work and overtake all the time, I just didn't want to look too cocky/dangerous in front of the examiner. A horse box was in front of me, and slowed to turn off the road, I decided to wait behind so I could speed back up when he left. The examiner said it was an otherwise empty road, and I should have moved over to the fast lane to overtake!
Annoying thing is that the slowness of the City Fly really stresses me out on the A27, it's more dangerous me riding that than the 500! |
