I just thought i would share a few tips when cleaning your bike.

For getting you chain and wheels clean (basically anywhere there is heavy oil) dab a toothbrush in white spirit brush the area and wipe off with a cloth. Even better is if you have an electric toothbrush. An old head mind not your sisters. Wink

Secure a sandwhich bag over the exhaust outlet hole with an elastic band to stop water getting into the exhaust making it hard to start.

If you have run out of chain wax get abit of car oil on a rag and wipe over the chain, make sure the chain is not soaked though as it will fling off.

Thats about it, feel free to add more tips. Very Happy

... but don't leave it on after you've finished cleaning the bike otherwise you'll trap condensation inside the exhaust Shocked

Instead of engine oil, get chainsaw oil, designed to be anti-fling.

Diesel is also a cheaper alternative to white spirit.(That's what I use on mine)
Paraffin is pretty good too.

six weeks ago, i bought a bunch of stuff, paint wax, tyre & leather wax, alumunium cleaner.

made a half hearted attempt to start, body work is ok but gave up on the swingarm as its covered with crud.
last owner left the battery overflow tube too short so its seen some acid as well Crying or Very sad

one of these days i'll get round to it,excuse is, i'm waiting for fork seals so at the moment there is oil spraying everywhere so theres no point cleaning Confused

cleaning is the worst thing about owning a bike Confused

Thanks for that. My back wheel is covered in greasy residue from the chain lube and road.
