 |
|
Hello guys. I want to de-restrict my NSR125, but am a little unsure of what needs doing with the jets. Can anybody explain? Sorry if this question has been asked before, i did search and could not find anything.
I know on UK spec bikes, there is a baffle inside the header which needs to be removed, and possibly a bigger front sprocket.
I also want to fit an Arrow or Micron race can, will this go straight on without adjustments?
Cheers |

Well to de restrict there's a plate behind the carb you need to remove, and a baffel in the exhaust that needs removing, see www.nsr125.com for more on that.
A new exhaust will go straight on, but you need to up-jet the carb for that.
Right up-jetting. For this you need to take the fuel tank off the bike, and the air box. Next you need to take your carb out, you'd have to do this to de-restrict so do it at the same time.
Under the carb there is a yellow bolt, unscrew this and pull the bottom of the carb off.

That is what you will see. Each of those arrows are the jets you need to replace.
You can get the jets from https://www.racecar.co.uk/dellorto/ The carb in the NSR is a 28PHBH/FD and the jets you need are main 138 , slow (idle) 42 , power 65. I bought them for about £13, turned up the next day.
Basically you just swap the jets by un-screwing the old one and screwing the new one in. Very easy to do. Next you have to cut a hole in the airbox as shown in alains guide https://www.geneva-racing.com/~alains/NSRtips.doc
Hopefully thats enough to help you to get the job done ____________________ Past: 55 Sym Jet, 91 ZZR250, 03 NSR125R. Present: 97 ER-5.

Don't forget if you upjet you also need to set the throttle needle to the second groove from the top or it'll run rich.
This thread should give you chapter and verse and also explains how to set up the carb and oil pump.
