just practice tbh, dont snatch at the clutch and be as smooth as possible, you will/might find you will stall it alot at first (setting off) so dont worry about that too much it will all come in time, its second nature to me now ____________________ current bike...CBR400RR

If you have not already, you should take a CBT!!
That will teach the basics of riding a bike, from then on its a long learning curve. ____________________ Suzuki VL Intruder 125cc - September 2004 to July 2005

Good man!
I found gears to be a little awkward at first, mainly because I didnt have any conept of when to change up or down and what effects it would have on the bike.
Sometimes I would find myself in a gear which was too high for the speed I was doing or found myself not knowing what gear I was in at all.
A few weeks into riding and it comes second nature, you attune your ears to the engine and your fingers to the feel of the bike.
However once you have sussed the gears, then comes a long long long long list of everything else you need to work on.
Corning, road positioning, road sense, entry speeds etc etc etc.
Its an exciting time for you my friend packed full of surprises and scares along the way. Enjoy. ____________________ Suzuki VL Intruder 125cc - September 2004 to July 2005

I strugled big time with gears as never using them or a clutch before i didnt know how to stop it stalling etc. even did a wheelie nearly 12 o clock on my lesson. crashed the bike lol.
With a bit of help from my mate coronaboner i learnt more than i ever did in my lesson and i was able to use the clutch properly and stop my bike stalling. Find a quiet car park and just practise pull away from first and stopping, use a make shift junction to practise on, helps alot. ____________________ My Bike Pics

agree with angryjonny. get your CBT done on a geared bike from the training school, whenyou ride the RS, make sure you keep revs high-ish, and let the clutch out slowly, but increasing the revs in conjunction. ____________________ Roger wrote: Women don't get damp for clingy puppies. Your right there ace, apexing through a 130mph left hander with a knee firmly planted is no place for camp attitude. It just would not be the same.
(Only kidding, being gay or not has no effect on bikes, bikers or apexing) ____________________ Suzuki VL Intruder 125cc - September 2004 to July 2005
