2006 Triumph Speed Triple 1050.

It has an arrow carbon fiber exhaust from the mid pipe back, and lsl billet aluminum handle bars, rizzoma front brake resevoir, clear alternatives integrated tail light, pazzo racing levers, bmc air filter, carbon fiber frame covers, lsl frame sliders, triumph fly screen, and triumph rear seat cowl.

Mileage is good and so is the price the only thing I would change are the bars, don't like the blue just stick on some bigger renthals and perhaps some hand gaurds Cool

Thinking on getting one what do you lot think ?

Is the RHS fork seal seeping? Confused

Don't have as much 'attitude' as the older models but I like them all the same.

Think Rob is the only bloke on here who has that model.

I love the look of the speed triple. the new 1050 looks awesome.

Make sure you test it first.

According to a review I saw on 'Mission Impossible 2' you should be able to perform a stoppie, one handed, at around 60mph whilst spinning around to face the opposite direction, firing a gun and blowing up cars.

If it doesn't do this properly then don't buy it... The wheel bearings are probably knackered Thumbs Up

The 955 Speed Triple was the best bike I've ever had or ridden. The 1050 has even more poke I've heard so after a GSXR600 you will find it has more power across the whole rev range. This makes it easy to go very fast without thinking.

According to an article in Bike not so long ago, it is the quickest bike away from the lights and the best top gear overtaking roll-on (up against bikes like the Hayabusa and GSXR1000).

Speed Triples are hooligan bikes and great fun.

It is a stunning looking bike though. I have been liking the white bikes a lot more of late. Need a lot of keeping clean though.

You going to sell the Gixxer and get one of these or are you planning on being a two bike guy?

I have to say I like it a lot. Go for it if its worth the money and it test rides well.

If I buy this with out selling the Gix I can't come back for summer, no big deal really Wink

And I fear if I got this the Gix would sit and rot Neutral so I will see.

Cheers for the reply so far guys Mr. Green

I have had a couple of test rides on a 2005 and 2006 speed Triple, and can confirm that they are stunningly brilliant bikes. So much fun.

Buy it!

Go for it - they are a real scream. That motor pulls more than Tom Cruise himself in a girls school. Ditch the blue shit and ditch the air filter, the Triumph injection system doesn't like high flow filters. You will probably find that it ticks over high (1500rpm +) and it will use oil. Make sure that its had the recalls done too, you can check it on the Triumph website, you just need the VIN number. Probably also worth checking that its got the correct tune in it too, its a 15 minute job for a dealer (we don't charge for downloading a tune, although some probably will). If the front brake feels spongy then Triumph are offering a change of caliper pistons as a goodwill replacement, these will firm up the lever but give you a bit less feel.

I've not been lucky enough to ride the 1050, but everything I've read rates it above the old one, but with the same feel. Now I've had 2 Speed triples and I'd have either of 'em back tomorrow if I could, if the new ones better just go for it! Thumbs Up

It was an interesting experience going from the 955i to the 1050. At first I really wasn't sure that it was a better bike. Initially I felt it lost the original 'grunt' of the 955, you could literally open the throttle from any revs and you would get that nice strong torque'y pull. The 1050 really needed some welly to make it happy. If you dare to pull away without enough revs it's not a happy bunny. That said, once you get used to it, the 1050 is a much faster, screamier bike. I think people can relate to it more coming from a sportsbike now than they could the previous models!

Having had the 1050 for over a couple of years now I can say I do much prefer it to the 955, there are lots of subtle changes that really do make a difference, the gear shifting, brakes, handling all all uprated over the 955. The 1050 feels a much 'faster' bike to ride and as yet it hasn't been beaten off the lights! Ok, after 70 or so I wave goodbye to the sportsbikes but hey, I much prefer the fun of low down power to having the ability to go 180mph!

I really can say, honestly, that everytime I ride it I get a grin on my face.

The best Triumph, unique in looks, and really good handling, I personally couldn't have one. It turns you into a loon.

Just popping down the shops ON ONE WHEEL, and back IN A ROLLING STOPPING.

I'd be quite jealous.
