Green Day.
The Offspring?
Radiohead?
May sound stupid, but Robbie Williams? Angels will be remembered for quite a long time I think.
Take That are also proving themselves quite well, especially now.
For me, The Streets are absolutely awesome and Mike Skinner is a genius when it comes to lyrics. Obviously there will be a lot of people that disagree with me here, so don't think they will be known as classics.
Spice Girls will always be remembered, maybe even in the same vein as the beatles in 30/40 years time.
To make something a classic, it has to stand the test of time, which is something the Spice Girls probably don't have. However like I said before Angels by Robbie Williams is a song that is likely to stand the test of time. As for his other songs, well that remains to be seen. Rudebox was awful by his usual standards.
Radiohead have quite a huge following and I for one like them very much. ____________________ Be careful whose advice you buy, but, be patient with those who supply it. You can actually get a strong idea of how old some of the people posting in this thread are by the answers they give.
Loving the folk that think that Madonna and RHCP are only out in the 1990's
There was an interview last year with Mig'ure ( who is a singer for all you youngsters ) about the bands he wanted for the Live8 gig, and TBH he couldn't think of that many artists that he would like to play that didn't play in the origional Live Aid gig 20 odd years previously !! ____________________ Staffs Riders Forum |

Re: Split Enz, I just did some digging and they had a no. 12 UK hit with "I got you" in August 1980, and thanks to www.amazon.com I've just had a listen for 22 secs and been reminded of it ____________________ My claim to fame: Austin Vince nicked my pen... |

imo not that many great bands either..
only ones i can think of are already on the list..
Radiohead.
Smashing Pumpkins.
the only other band, well, artist that i'm listening to right now who i think has the "stuff" to last is Natasha Khan aka 'Bat for Lashes' so fire her on the list as well.. anyone that disagrees speak to Mr B. Hind. |
