Um, you don't have gearbox oil, engine and gearbox oil are one and the same on your bike (its a 4-stroke). The best bet is to drain it all down and put some reasonable quality semi synthetic in there. You may as well change the filter while you're at it too.

You need to use SAE 10/40w semi synthetic, you can get Castrol GPS from your local halfords(they did have a sale on oils last week).

If you drain it and refill it, it takes 2.5 litres with a oil filter change, and 2.4 litres without an oil filter change. Remember to check this by looking at the lines on the dipstick while the bike is upright.

You're best getting a new oil filter while your at it, don't bother with pattern ones as it isn't worth the risk. Honda ones cost around £8,

Don't use car oil as it contains additives that can make your clutch slip. (In cars that engine oil doesn't lubricate the clutch - it does on bikes).

Hi

To be honest I use a semi synthetic car oil in the 1200 Bandit, the FZ750 and the GPZ500 with no clutch problems at all.

All the best

Keith

I knew you'd say that Keith! Smile That's why I said 'can make your clutch slip'. Wink
