Well after a nice
17'032khm my original bore and piston have gave up.
After keith came round smashed the bike and took the top end off.
We took a closer inspection to the piston and came up with this.
Its shagged.
The piston is self explanitory, look at pics.
The bore has chippings on the exhuast port. and a few bits on the bore have been skimmed off.
there was one piston ring in full working order.
Although it had moved round so that the piston gap was actually facing the exhaust port
And yes the bike still ran with the piston and remaining ring like that. ____________________ Regards

\o/ nicely done scotty
Mine looked a bit like that - had to get a new as barrell as well 'cos my exhaust port got ripped to pieces like yours. Never took any pics though, wish I had.
Cost me £300 to get it sorted in the end dealer knocked a bit off as well because he's nice like that.
Get well soon Scoot's NSR ____________________ NSR125RR - ZXR750H1 - ZX9R E1 - GSF600S - GSF600SK3 - VFR400-NC30 - SV1000N - ST1100-R - CBR900RR-R - GSF1200SK5 - GSF600SK1 - VFR1200FA - GSXR1000K2 - ZZR1400 D8F

Well i'm probably looking the wrong side of £150 to get all this fixed.
Barrel piston - £85
Rings - god knows probably about £20
Gasket Set - £20
Small end bearing - £10
Gudeon pin - £10
Few seals and other bits for powervalve - £10
But i did get a few cables of colin for free which probably saved me about £20.
Nice one son
But once its done, hopefully i'll get another 15'000khm out of the wee NSR.
But i'm not looking forward to running the bike in, or coming to hills, lol... ____________________ Regards

When I had my NSR I was originally going to buy a whole new top end as spares. I am talking a spare set of rings, gaskets, piston, etc... basically the lot, so that if it blew up I could fix it more or less straight away. The only thing that pisses me off more than not having a bike is having one in the garage that's fucked and you're waiting for some wanker at your local bike shop to pull his finger out and get you some parts. I didn't buy the parts as I said to myself I would, wish I had now, should have budgeted it in with the cost of the bike. Think I will with my next bike, maybe not to the extent of a new top end, cos my next bike is a 4 stroke, but definitely spare chain, sprockets, brake pads, brake fluid, etc. ____________________ A big enough hammer fixes anything! |
