Virgin Broadband?

Anyone got it? any problems?

Also I have a massive block paved drive the first installation crew said no way where they touching the drive. Second crew are due on Saturday to hopefully install the internet I ordered end of March!!!!!

Where do I stand if say they break one of my block paving blocks?

Its reliable, but slow.

I'm on 4 meg but never get any higher than 2.

Fast and very reliable for me, but we're under what used to be "Birmingham Cable" or more recently "Telewest", so most of the infrastructure is quite new around here. On a 20 meg connection and can't say I've ever had problems with peak time speeds dropping or shaped traffic management.

It's gone to the dogs now, nothing but problems with the connection speed, and billing.

I got the offer from Virgin £9 per month for 2MB cable. I also have 3 months free for all the hassle

Go and check out some ISP review sites dude, where there are like hundreds of user submissions on the VIRGIN BB. As you know cable uses optical fibres (light).

Conventional ADSL BB is based on copper cables which are running of the hump of BT which which is reliable as a home made condom. Theoretically the optical fibre technology should be the better.

What do you plan to use the BB for? if its normal surfing stick to you free Sky broadband.

down loading movies, tunes etc, use about 10GB a month min.

its been a bit of a pain in the ass of late, keeps going really slooooow for a couple of hours at a time, no idea why. used to be fine when NTL were running it.

I've been with Virgin forever. Even started up with their Dial-Up.

Used to be a superb service, but (as said) of late it's been shite.

It seems A LOT slower than it used to be, IMO it started to slow when they introduced this "Virgin Media" B*ll*cks.

I'm actually on their 8 Meg service, but tested it on one of them online speed tests and the results were that I'm actually getting about 2.5 Meg average.

Gonna look into another ISP.

Same as Pte1643, been with them since the Telewurst days. Bearing in mind I don't use them for anything other than connectivity - i.e. no mail, web, etc. - I don't have any problems with speed:
