Just shout "COME TO YOUR SENSES!" and maybe slap her with a glove.
That should sort it.

Either that or give her a whiff of chemical toilet.

In all seriousness find a friend with a caravan you can borrow. A weekend in rainy wales in some rotting husk of a caravan that smells of mould should put her off.

Hopefully she hates its, before she discovers it /after/ buying a caravan.

Can she tow a caravan after just passing her test?

(I'm unsure of what the law is, thought I overheard someone say new drivers couldn't - Not on their licence or something Thinking don't quote me on this though Wink )

i really hope your right (*goes off to thumb through the highway code).

i think subliminal anti carravan songs (of the chas and dave persuasion), a pair of headphones and a few nightols may be the way to go.....( my god, i'm actually contemplating drugging the missus!!?)

Yep, Loz is right, there are restrictions on towing for newbie drivers.

However, there is NOTHING wrong with caravanning, i have one and the dreaded 4x4 (well , 3 of them TBH) and its a great bit of fun.

phew.....cheers Johnny GSX-R...... I may get away with it for a few years at least.....

Every childhood holiday ( appaert from the obligatory disneyland and eurodisney ordeals) was spent in a caravan. I used to love Devon and the Lakes......

i thought i had escaped when at 13 i was too tall to fit in the bunk beds, so got trusted to say at home Rolling Eyes but now it's coming back to haunt me.

yep it's true, she'll need to take another test to tow anything.

I believe the cut off date was jan 1997, same as 17 seat minibuses and anything over 3.5t.

I believe you are fine to tow a caravan providing it is under 750kg if you have just passed your test.

The obvious solutions I'd go for are a) get a caravan that has the back cut out so you can load a bike into it (popular racer trick) either to take along for fun or for trackdays.

b) Get a proper motohome converted van that you can load a bike into for the same purposes Smile.

If I had space to keep a caravan I'd have probably done so ages ago!

I'd definitely be renting one first - though it might be your mind that's changed if your used to tents! However, it is quite a bit of hassle to tow a caravan in a car I suspect - not quite so bad when I've done it in a van, but still not great. Definitely takes a bit of getting used to - wait to the first time you have to do a three point turn, then refuse to get out to take the caravan off the car and see if she still likes them.
