I used to use old sump oil.

Now I use EP90 but I had to modify it so the valve opened further because EP90 is really thick.

I've used old and new engine oil and it seems to work fine.

Cool was the flow rate similar? or did it need adjusting higher/lower?

Never really noticed a difference with the sump oil to be honest.

Give it a try and see what you think, you can always empty it out again if you're not happy.

Light gear oil is better if you have it as it is a bit thinner.
Thumbs Up

Chainsaw chain oil, it's about a quarter of the price and is pretty much the same stuff. Other oils will lubricate the chain just as well but you need to consider fling off the chain as well.
Although, the genuine stuff is a fiver a bottle and lasts thousands of miles, I take the view that it isn't going to break the bank . . . .

I agree, it's just that I have 1 litre of cheapy car oil which I used for my Loobman and it's never gonna get used for anything else. I'm gonna give it a try, it cant be to far off.

Dont be tight, use the proper stuff. Its not like it costs the earth and it wont fuck your scottoiler up.

A mate of mine also uses EP90, especially with the warmer weather here. No reported problems Thumbs Up

You're not going to break your scotoiler.

All it is is a container of oil with a large needle valve at the bottom attached to a rubber diaphragm with a bit of plastic. Absolute worst case, you get a bit of muck in there that blocks the needle valve and you'd need to give it a flush through.
