Does anyone actually use one on here?
How good would these be in the event where you slide down the road as i hear mushrooms can snap off & bend in the engine, would you say there better then mushrooms?
Was thinking of getting one for the bike, yes they look kinda big but i'm really not bothered with how my bike looks if it's going to give me piece of mind & alot of protection.

Your thoughts please. |

I wouldn't like to think what would happen if you came off the bike at speed and the sticky out bit (that is the technical term) dug into something. I'd imagine it would bend the frame? Or just flip the bike...
Like the idea though. |

When I fall off the last thing on my mind is the stupid engine that got me into the bother in the first place.

If you don't plan to fall off why buy them? They look like they reduce the ground clearance and make the bike look like a training bike? What next, fitting stabilizers? ____________________ Andy Sez....

They just look like the sort of engine bars that are common on naked bikes and cruisers, but big enough to go outside the fairings.
From a purely personal point of view in original link I think they spoil the lines of the bike. Do they actually offer much in the way of fairing protection? If they do then fair enough, but if they don't then a set of bars around the engine that fit inside the fairings would be better aesthetically. Whether you could actually get anything to fit inside the fairings is, of course, a moot point!
Gratuitous bike pic opportunity? Here's my Zephyr with her recently-fitted engine bars. Already saved her from a standing drop, which TBH is of much more concern to me than a fast crash. Himself reckons that they will save a lot of damage during a slow drop or a slide.

i remember asking sparks about them a while ago.
As far as im concerned being able to ride home after a drop is most important to me. And having a bit less concern when practicing rolling burnouts etc.
Only thing that would drive me nuts is getting the fucker off to get under the fairing. Just like the R+G's do now, but im guessing a cage would be ALOT worse. ____________________ China traffic/travel bike vid - When I make a sweeping statement, please add the word 'statistically' in to the sentence before you bitch...
From September 2014 to January/February 2015 I will not be using any English, nor reading any. As such, I won't be on here. PM at will, but I won't be checking/posting unless in emergencies. Certainly not for the first couple of months. Please berate me savagely if I break that rule... |

I dropped my Hornet the other week exhaust side. After opening my eyes (i didn't wanna look) i was surprised to see my bike almost hovering above the tarmac suspended on its engine bars. Only damage was a scraped mirror and givi box. Engine got away with it and the bars polished up nicely. Worth their weight in gold IMO. They came with my bike anyway but I would have bought them had they not and for £60 well worth it
