Hi,

I'm thinking of buying a new leather jacket for the summer.

I already have a leather jacket, but last year it was just too hot.

I also have a mesh jacket, but I am a bit worried about its safety rating ie its great at keeping me cool but what about sliding down the road?

How affective are the jackets with the holes in, for keeping you cool.

If you look at this jacket here it seems to have lots of holes and is only £110 from a place fairly (40 miles) from me.

My Frank Thomas two piece leathers have venting holes down the front and across the Biceps. Brilliant at keeping me cool but they do leak water in when raining. Bar that, my leathers are waterproof.

I have a one piece that is perforated (as its aimed at racing i guess). The perforations do keep me cool when riding at speed during the day when I need it. I started to find that when I commute earlier on I was getting too cold, and if I worked late it was getting cold again.

I went out and bought an EDZ innershell, a wafer thin shirt you wear under your leathers that is windproof. If your going for a quick pootle round town leave it at home, the perfs will keep you coolish. If youre going for a longer blast and its a bit cooler stick the shirt on and it should keep you fairly warm!

Thumbs Up

Cheers I bought it today.

The quality seems very good and cheap only £110, i've seen the same make else where on the net for £200.

Quite a good place to go if you were starting out. Its called race leathers and they're near Blackburn. (raceleathers.co.uk , I rode over so I could try it on).

I didn't dear ride back with it on as I had to stop on the way and swap my summer gloves for winter ones. (its that cold).

Ohh plus its now going to rain for the next 3 days.

Ohh the only weird thing about the jacket, is it has (did have till I removed it) a strange sort of neck protector thingy, which is sooooooo unconfortable. Don't know if anyone know the things I mean.
