leading on from the "can you knee down" thread, would be cool to see how many people can go even lower an scrape the pegs and on what bike.

I try not to - usually run out of grip first; if the pegs go down I probably need to hang off more Smile.

I have to vote no, because I rarely get the bike over that far - either I get a toe or a knee touching first and that tells me where the limit is.

If anyone owns a G or J model Ninja they will find the pegs decking out all the time. Mines used to ground all the time when the bike was leaned over. Quite annoying after a while.

I've had the left peg down around roundabouts a couple of times, roundabouts I ride alot that is....
Funny thing is I would have to vote 'no' for the knee down thread, I've never even tried, not having leather trousers being the main reason... but also I don't hang off so much, I prefer to lean the bike more, might not be as good technically but I just prefer to ride that way, it feels good to crank it over Smile

Never had my pegs down yet on my J2, but then I do ride in jeans most of the time anyway.

Only time I ground mine out was when not leaning that much, but hardly hanging off with someone who weight around 20stone on the back Smile. Otherwise, the tyres (010 and 010/020) lost traction before the pegs went down with me hanging off.

Suspension can also be an issue.

On my RS250 dusty could get the pegs down while hanging off. Then I got the suspension sorted and only had the pegs go down while losing traction mid-elbow down; whole bike didn't go down and nothing else touched down while I was elbow-down. Also had it happen on track on the rs250 when it went into neutral mid-chicane at the bottom of the mountain at Cadwell.

Maybe it was just me, I just found out the pegs would deck out quite easily. I had Sidi rain boots and the toes on them where totally gubbed with my toes scrapping the ground.

Or get boots with toe sliders!
The whole hanging off the bike doesn't feel natural, or to me it doesn't.

Practice and it will feel more natural - arse off a bit and face 'kissing the mirror'.

A modern sports bike 'works' better when hanging off thanks to the geometry.

I always used to just stick my arse off the seat and had to make a conscious effort to stick my upper torso off on track. So I practised doing it riding to work and back; then it felt natural to do it on track without having to focus on my body position.

Personally, if I'm going to stick something on the deck I'd prefer it to be as wide as possible so it doesn't get caught in stuff and with as much 'suspension' as possible so that it's less likely to destabilise the bike.

Got some leathers minus knee sliders now for a reason. Don't want to accidentally clip a knee down hanging off with no sliders! I probably do hang off a bit but not really enough to affect the bike much.

I really should get leathers and sliders for when hanging off, jeans fray when they meet tarmac(knee's and skin unharmed)..... Peg downs aren't as cool Imo, the police notice the sparks when following you. Thumbs Down

Pegs go down on the xj very easily - it's taken a fair amount of my boots away too. Coming from a sportsbike and riding it to work you do have to remind yourself you cannot carry the same amount of speed.

Toes have gone down on gsxr whilst mid kneedown, but not pegs. Don't really want to either.

I've done it on the JogR and the YBR. The pegs come before the knee on those bikes. ...

However i could only ever get the peg down on the right hand side (going around a rounderbout) never tried to get it down on a corner.
