when I purchased the bike I asked the dealer to remove the stock cans and fit me some Scorpion exhausts as I wanted a better tone than stock.

after riding the bike a bit i'm a bit disappointed with the noise of the exhausts Sad

how can I actually tell they're real scorpion exhausts? theres no badges on the sides of the exhausts (unless they're on the top of the exhaust under the tail unit)

also, theres a catalytic converter in the Y piece, will this also muffle the sound a bit? cheers

Can't find any info on them.

But looking at them they look like scorpions with out the baffle in Wink but they should have the scorpion badge on the side.

My mates scorpion can was just a sticker mind. What about the mounting bracket wrapped around them that may have scorpion written on it.

Well they do look about right but the badges are missing that I reckon should be on the sides.

Scorps have one main sticker on them and then normally have a small engraving of a scorpion on the outlet. As far as I know all current scorpions have got the 'E' marking on the outlet as well. If they dont have either of these then its time to start asking questions.

I checked my scorpion and it doesn't seem to have any such numbers at the end, but does have the scorpion logo stamped on the top of the outlet and a sticker on the right hand side (on a 675 which is similar size can, so would expect it'd be pretty much the same one).

I always thought Scorpion were one of the cheapest pipes available (presumably why there's one on my bike), though don't really follow the current fashions for such things.

As it's D&K, I wouldn't be suprised if there was all sorts of dodgyness (so look for the tescos value baked beans logos where they stuck a few old cans together to make an exhaust Razz ).

i think the best thing to do would be to ring D+K to see where they got the cans from and why the logo isnt on them. Thats probably the best next step.

I had a Scorpion can on the SV, was very impressed with sound Thumbs Up

Actually the new scorpions are hot Mr. Green

I like the one for the 06 07 gix, the one with the weld marks all up the side.

Looks like a 500gp style can Mr. Green

Hmm, might be worth getting someone to film a drive past.

My bike to me doesnt sound /that/ loud when im riding it. In fact i barely hear it.

Yet from ALL other sources it sounds like the apocalypse and i often get comments from people asking if i was 'out last night around tennish' cos they've heard the roar even if i was no where near them.

but like i say, it doesnt sound really loud to me when im on it.

Get the misses to film it Thumbs Up

My scorpion can just has an engraving on the end of it. Theres no logo on the side, so the previous owner decided to whack an Akrapovic sticker on the side for some reason? Confused

Looks good though - sounds even better Wink

Do you have a receipt for the cans they 'fitted'?

I've had Scorpians and they have a etched scorpian logo above the tail pipe and a red stick on badge on the side,I would investigate further sounds like your being fobbed off with cheap copies

Have a look on there site
https://www.scorpion-exhausts.com/Bikes/new.php?id=54

as for noise my mates just fitted a pair on his 06 bike and the 1st thing we noticed was how quite they are compared to the same exhausts on a 51 plate of the same model we removed the 06 collector and fitted the 51 plate collector it improved but not as much as he would have hoped

not a receipt for the actual cans, but it's on the paperwork for them to buy and fit them, and the fuckers never gave me my stock cans back either, had to go in and find the mechanic who fitted them and get them off him

on these theres a big ring of silicone inside them that joins the baffle to the can. and the quality of the metalwork is crap, the hole that the removeable baffle pin goes through hasn't been ground down properly

To be honest that does sound remarkably like the scorpion I had on my 125. Is the retaining screw about 10mm long and drilled on the underside of the outlet?

EDIT: Oh yeah on a totally unrelated topic, is 125ccsb fucked for you as well Glyn or is it just me?

That's the odd thing - I thought scorpion were one of the cheapest makes you could get as it is - believe a 'standard' scorpion stainless exhaust starts at around £100 per exhaust.

Definitely doesn't seem to be anything cheaper than that on ebay.

Are scorpion actually considered to be good quality these days?

I wouldn't say Scorpion were the cheapest. The single can on my 125 was £160. That was a stainless steel and round - the cheapest they do. Overall quality was good but there were a few areas to improve on. Would definately buy another one Thumbs Up
