well, i decided to invest in some leathers and after looking on Ebay, found a nice one-piece, but generally wanted to ask what the best sets are and why, what's the difference between the set I seen, and a £500 quid set, apart from the material, or is that it? and are leathers only worth the cash you invest in 'em? thoughts..(same question for boots too actually)

There's lots of things that effect the quality of leathers.
Thickness of leather (if it's stretched etc), quality of seams, design, placement and quality of armour.

Generally I'd trust most made to measure suits.
Big names such as 'Dianese' don't always mean quality - infact quite the opposite in some cases - a lot of the expensive suits sold to consumers seem to be 'single use'. They will probably protect you ok once, but will be pretty badly damaged from a single moderate crash - while for a similar price you can probably get a decent made to measure that will last tens of crashes with little repair work.

Basically as with most things, more money doesn't guarantee you will get more protection when you need it.

Remember, fit is very important. I wouldn't get leathers I hadn't tried on unless I intended to get that altered to fit - this comes out at around £100 for a one piece suit and is well worth it in my opinion.

You sure you wanna squeeze into a one-er? Why not two piece that zip together?

I'd also go & waste some of Infinity's time and try some on, get a feel of what size you need. It's very important that they fit right.

I'd never buy top brand leathers, neither would I get cheapo. IMO midrange is the way to go. Look at RST & Buffalo.

Incidentally, I still haven't found any decently sturdy makes of boots. My last pair of Sidi boots did last maybe 15 crashes and a bit of off roading as well, so not too bad I suppose - though did require a little superglue to keep them in together over the two years I used them.

No, defo don't pay Infinity's prices Tut Tut but you can get away with trying a couple of sets on (different makes to compare the fit), saying you'll mull over which to get then wait till payday Wink Yes it's a bit cheeky, but then so is their markup!

They need to be fairly snug/tight to begin with (they loosen as you wear them in) but obviously still fastenable, let your lungs still breath/blood still flow to limbs, and allow you to 'assume the position' (you don't go clubbing in leathers, you sit on a bike in em! Laughing )

Good luck Thumbs Up

All your full stops seem to have been concentrated into a little bit in the middle of the post; perhaps using appropriate punctuation and capitalisation would help?

As Mudskipper mentions, ideally try and sit on your bike or a similar one (they should be fine with this) and see how the leathers feel in that position.

I rate 2 piece over 1 piece for pure practicality reasons.
Ive got 2 piece Dainese TT-72 leathers. Bottoms fit superb, Tight allover. Jacket is a bit baggy around the chest. Gives me a reason to pump up at the gym a bit I suppose.

value is somewhere in the region of £500. I managed to get them for £60 including a pair of brand new Size 8 Sidi boots and A pair of Alpinestar Gloves. Wink
Well my Dad did anyway, Got them off a bloke who bought them, wore them once or twice, then realized he was on the bread line and needed some cash seriously fast. Laughing

for serious riding in racing crouch, i rate one peice leathers which are a good fit, close fit but still comfy

i recommend trying stuff on in a shop and then buying the same brand and size, second hand off ebay.

in my experience, pricey brands are worth the money if you buy them second hand for the price of a lesser brand new

for everything else i rate two piece textiles

with loose fitting textiles, i dont think fit is so important, so im not so bothered about quality

one bad habit i have it using other jackets with my textile trousers, and not having matching zips to zip them together

i really should sort this out at some stage.

Mudskipper, cheers.. will do. Thumbs Up

G, I didn't concentrate them all mid sentence.. I intended that (don't ask me to post why, couldn't explain properly whilst writing)

Maurice, Thanks, figured that was only explanation. Cool although I thought there were similar threads alreadyt here, but not quite with the answers I needed, and it was a random question, hence random bantor Wink
